Video: Porsche Carrera GT promo
Most commercials we see on television pitch products like soft drinks and toilet paper – you know, the kind of things that most people buy and most people can afford. There's certainly no shortage of car commercials, either, but they likewise typically focus on mass-market automobiles like the Volkswagen Rabbit or Dodge Caliber. But a commercial for a million-dollar supercar?
The superlative Carrera GT is a piece of automotive excellence that can speak for itself, but the fellas down in Stuttgart evidently felt it deserved a promo ad and threw this one together. The video after the jump draws on Porsche's innovations and racing experience to introduce the race-bred Carrera GT, highlighting its lightweight V10 engine, carbon ceramic brakes and ceramic clutch.
Okay, Porsche, we're sold.

Uninspiring commercial.
The car isn't awe-inspiring either- disappointing how this car is outgunned by the Enzo and Koehnisegg.

The Carrera GT is faster than an Enzo around Der 'Ring...

#3. You obviously don't get the Carrera GT. Its not about paying homage to F1 (Enzo Ferrari), or claiming a top speed record (briefly held By the CCR).
Where the 959 was about mechanical engineering, and the GT1 was about a race car for the road, the Carrera GT is about materials engineering. And as far as materials engineering goes, it is one of the most advanced cars ever.
Show some respect.

yes, it is a good compile. it is also about 2-3 yrs old! just around the time the Carrera GT was being produced! it is an awesome video no doubt though!! and yes it is outdone by a few other cars. but think about it closely and you will see why this masterpiece was indeed one!!

Is it me, or does the music sound like Hans Zimmer's score from "The Rock"?
Great video. Wish it had more of the CGT exhaust noise.

#3 just for the record little kid... the CGT is faster on every race track tested as ALL Koenigsegg...only the special prepared(spoiler added) Koenigsegg for the topgear testtrack beat the stock CGT.
On the Ring there is not a single production supercar like Enzo Koenigsegg Pagani Lamborghini that was able to beat the CGT laptime... the CGT is not build for 1/4 racing or topspeed events. Even in Italian tests the CGT beat the Enzo on italien race tracks...

"Where the 959 was about mechanical engineering, and the GT1 was about a race car for the road, the Carrera GT is about materials engineering."
The narrator in the video commented that the CGT was designed as a race car for the road, as that's what it was originally intended to be, but the actual racing version was scrapped due to rule changes part way through development of the car.
"On the Ring there is not a single production supercar like Enzo Koenigsegg Pagani Lamborghini that was able to beat the CGT laptime."
The Pagani Zonda F beat it with a 7'32 dead, to the CGT's 7'32.44. Walter Rohl is said to have taken the CGT to a 7'28, but it was unofficial.

Material engineering, yes. Mechanical engineering, no.
There is an extra unnecessary gear mesh in the transmission.

#12, my son, clearly some of Koeniseggs, as well as Zonda F do indeed beat the CGT.
Before you make a bold claim like "there isn't a single production car..." and calling other people kids, perhaps you should do a little bit of research.
Besides, I was more expressing my disappointment in the video, rather than the car, but what do I know, I'm just a kid, right?
