In addition to the Shooting Sport Concept, Chinese auto manufacturer Chery also had the A6CC Concept on display at the 2007 Shanghai Auto Show. The A6CC appears even more production ready than the Shooting Sport, except for those faux disc brakes that could make decelerration interesting. Our colleagues from Autoblog Chinese report that A6CC has real production possibilities as both a coupe and convertible with a choice of 3.0L V6 or 2.0L four-cylinder diesel engines. The concept has also been designed from the ground up to meet Europe's strict safety and emissions standards.
The design of the A6CC is very unassuming, almost to a fault. This may be the most subtle Chinese design ever produced, which isn't something of which many Chinese cars can be accused. The low slung coupe has a slick profile, a mildly expressive face thanks to the three-beam headlights and a clean rear end featuring dual, chrome-tipped tailpipes. Would the A6CC play in Peoria, though?

Wow, they even stole the infiniti logo.
I know we all hate the "LOOKS LIKE AN X AND X AND X" posts, but that's obviously a 1st gen G35 front end with 2nd gen G35 or M35/45 headlights.
3cubedminus3squared @ Apr 20th 2007 5:27PM
I saw a mix of G35, 3 series and alfa brera.
Viv @ Apr 20th 2007 5:33PM
Does anybody else see an Infiniti G37 in this model; all the way down to the badge
Doc Lucas @ Apr 20th 2007 5:35PM
It's less repulsive than many of their other designs.
What's with the faux brake discs? Are there 4-wheel drums lurking behind, or have the Chinese invented an invisible brake caliper?
Sean Cahill @ Apr 20th 2007 5:45PM
Nissan/Infiniti front end, Honda body. Not very unassuming.
SherbornSean @ Apr 20th 2007 5:55PM
Does Honda get royalties?
CaliberSRT4 @ Apr 20th 2007 6:14PM
At least it looks like a coupe and not a bloated coupe that wants to be a sedan...Meaning it looks like the old eclipses and stratus/sebring coupes and not the new coupes.
YOUR MOM @ Apr 20th 2007 6:25PM
Why are all the pictures taken at bumper height?
I can't see how the car really looks
Tagg @ Apr 20th 2007 6:37PM
I think we are really getting to the point where you can see a little bit of each automaker in every car. Between crash test standards, pedestrian impact specs, and so on it will be harder and harder to be totally unique. I also mind you that Chery, Geely, and the like are still very new car companies and don't have the resources of a Honda, Ford, Nissan, etc. They have already come a long way in a relativly short period of time and this concept would fit in very well in the U.S. market.
gus @ Apr 20th 2007 6:56PM
it's a "deck model" - hence the fake brakes
tekdemon @ Apr 20th 2007 7:04PM
It's definitely not very original (although I wouldn't say it's copied from any particular car there's definitely inspiration here and there) but it's still far less hideous than what I'm used to seeing from Chery, and still far more original than when they built the QQ lol.
tekdemon @ Apr 20th 2007 7:06PM
omg those chrome tips are hideous....what the hell.....someone needs to learn to taper the damned things to the pipe diameter and not do a horrible hack job like that.
SherbornSean @ Apr 20th 2007 7:33PM
I'm OK with deriving design elements from successful models, but a new carmaker only gets one chance to make a first impression. You have to establish a certain style that is your own so that you have a brand identity.
The boxiness of the 1970's Volvos established them as unique, like fastback hatchbacks from Saab and the rearward sloping kidney grills on BMWs. So far, Chery just hasn't established its own design language and languishes as cheap and forgettable.
walkerqian @ Apr 20th 2007 7:39PM
hey hey...not ture...this is a design from italy!!!by bertone..."The Chery A6CC...Designed by the Italian design house, Bertone. We don’t have much info on this car, but as we get it you’ll no doubt read about it."
http://www.chinacartimes.com/
and translation from autoblog chinese:""Movement is life, life is to enjoy" the design concept A6CC Chery, Chery is with the famous Italian design company to create the BERTONE common."

Derek @ Apr 20th 2007 8:14PM
It is designed by Bertone, as noted in the Chinese article. Rather than jump on the bandwagon and call every Chinese design a copy, this one is designed wholly by Bertone.... Strange how no one ever calls an Italian design a copy.
FK SherbornSean @ Apr 20th 2007 8:18PM
SherbornSean: ford, chevy, buick established no shit as their own design language and languishes either~
Tony @ Apr 20th 2007 9:26PM
That's Hot! :p
Ken @ Apr 20th 2007 9:51PM
haha...........yes, I believe this car is designed by the Italians. Just like some of the Korean cars are designed by the Italians too. There are good copies, and there are bad copies. This one is actually pretty nice!!! Everyone gets "Inspired" by other designs, some gets "inspired" a lot more than the others, but I like this one. However, I will never buy a car called Chery.........I am sorry, I don't see myself pop one.......sort of speaking. That blond model is hot!!!

Isn't it embarassing for the Chinese automakers to only copy other automaker's designs (and their logos)in order to make a still stale concept car. Even Toyota doesn't copy like this. First, as everyone has noticed the front end is pure G35/37. I know I saw those wheels on a Pontiac G6. Speaking of the G6, the entire side profile is very reminicent of the G6. The rear end is decidedly Crysler Sebring (which is not a good car to copy from). Honestly, I will never even consider buying a Chinese car no matter how cheap it may be. I actually hope that these Chinese companies keep making these Gawd-awful looking ripoffs so that no on in America will ever take them seriously. Then again, we are Americans....
Devin @ Apr 20th 2007 11:29PM
I don't give a shit if it was penned by Guargio or Pinafarina. That's just even more shameful on Bertone for the ripoff that it is. At least we EXPECT a chinese automaker to rip of a design.
