Roewe W2 concept a Chinese delight

We've had our
fun with Chinese-designed cars before, but it looks like someone over at
Roewe knows what makes a decent-looking car.
Roewe is expected to officially introduce its W2 concept later this month at the Shanghai Auto Show. Though officially a concept, Internet rumors indicate production later this year, though probably without the fancy LED touch screen control module in the center stack. Hopefully, though, the transformation from concept to reality will leave intact the car's stylish lines and handsome interior. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until the April 22 Shanghai show for more details.

Chevy called and they want their new Malibu back.
Ols @ Apr 16th 2007 1:43PM
Is very Lexus IS in profile and grille is a bit overdone, but this isn't bad at all. This is how Rover should have looked...
Kowell @ Apr 16th 2007 1:45PM
apart from the nose.... exterior look in mid-size sedans doesn't get more generic than this.....the side look could as well be the new malibu, the Camry, the Accord, the Sonata, the Jetta or wathever other midsize sedan. Points for the innovative interior though... the nose sucks
Gregg W. @ Apr 16th 2007 2:13PM
...agree with Kowell; looks like Hyundai doing a Pontiac impression...
Chuck @ Apr 16th 2007 2:28PM
Well, from the comments so far, it looks just like a Hyundai, Pontiac, VW, Honda, Chevy and Lexus.
After only four posts!

Take me to your leader!
Seriously, their marketers should hook up with the Transformers movie for this one.
Bill @ Apr 16th 2007 3:12PM
The front is oddly feline.
Justin @ Apr 16th 2007 3:19PM
that front end looks a lot like an Aura to me.
Aprime @ Apr 16th 2007 4:11PM
Fucking hell, that's actually the first Chinese concept I like.
CJ @ Apr 16th 2007 4:35PM
Hey look! More "Hey it looks like a _____ with a _____ end!" comments!
While it's not something I would buy, it sure isn't something that would be offensive on American roads. Actually would fit in quite nicely with rent-a-car fleets.

Very cool! If a bit Rover and Saturn. Love the high-teck look interior. Wish to see stuff like this in the US.
jgp @ Apr 16th 2007 8:05PM
It's an IS350 with the door handles of a Camry and the grille of a Saturn Aura.
It doesn't look bad, but sheez...that's a more flagrant rip-off than anything I've seen from any non-Chinese manufacturer.
aaron @ Apr 17th 2007 12:07AM
wow...this really is a proper car that could actually have the established ones worry about. the front end is a bit busy, but quite nice. nicely proportioned with sculpted side and hood... very impressive.
all who says 'it looks like this, it looks like that....' just shut up! don't talk if you don't know what you are talking about...i feel violated.
mojojojo @ Apr 17th 2007 12:21AM
Except for the grill this looks pretty nice! One of the first cars from china I actually like...
Richard S. @ Apr 17th 2007 12:52AM
Say what you want, but the exterior and interior design sure beats the new Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebring. If the Chinese can make a decent midsize sedan why the hell can't Chrysler with supposedly many more resources (whatever they lack in Auburn Hills they can borrow from Stuttgart)
bmoredlj @ Apr 17th 2007 10:38AM
Look at this concept and then the Opel GTC concept. Not the exterior, the steering wheel. The designs of the two steering wheels are suspiciously similar. Scratch that; they're IDENTICAL.

No.5. That exacly indicates exactly how ridiculously arbitrary and arrogant you guys are。 It's not about the car, it's about the topic of chinese copy. Hope you guys can still have fun about chinese cars like this 20 years later.
