VIDEO: Eddie Griffin interviewed after Enzo-icide
Looks like Eddie Griffin hasn't been coached well enough by the PR people for his film Redline. Griffin missed an obvious opportunity to use the movie's tagline, "Fear Nothing. Risk Everything" to explain why he crashed a Ferrari Enzo during a charity event to promote the movie. Instead, he answers inquiries as to what happened with, "The brother can't drive." Nice. We brought you info about the crash last night, but now we have a link to video interview of Eddie talking about the incident. Click the read link or the image above and then find the VIDEO link in the box at the lower right of the page. For review, check out the original crash video after the jump. There are also photos of the car before the incident in our Redline gallery from the L.A. Auto Show if you want to remember the Enzo in better days. Be forewarned, however, that the Porsche Carrera GT crashed ON PURPOSE for the movie is featured in that gallery, as well.

say what you want, at least this Enzo (like most of the others) died while doing what it was supposed to do, drive fast and drive hard. I feel more sorry for the endless other ones which will lay cold and alone in some museum or garage. Those are the cars that we should be trying to save

I think I have watched this about 100 times, it is amazing just how hard that Ferrari Enzo hits the wall. Even if this was an accident every forum I visit, the #1 thread is about this so I think it was great press for the movie coming about in a few weeks.

i noticed in the video he doesn't appear injured but they put him in an ambulance. I'm guessing it had more to do with the emotional mortification than any physical injuries. He probably just got in there to get away from the camera and have a good cry.

Ok, The more I look at this the more suspicious it looks. Now the whole world knows about the "movie" because of the "accident". It on every news channel, it on every blog. So 1 mill to advertise your "movie" Nation wide and on all internet media actually sounds a good deal to me.
Eddie Griffin probably got pay some $$$ for "eating the dead cat", I mean he is B list at best. He is now famous after the accident.
Its an marketing ploy.

This Enzo appears to be salvageable and this crash is not as bad as some of the other wrecked Enzos like Stephen Erricson's.
It appears that the rest of the Enzo's structure remains intact, especially the engine bay. Does that mean the front end can be repaired, albeit at a high cost, in order to save this beautiful piece of machinery??? If the Enzo can be repaired, will the crash record devastate its resale value.
What do you guys think?

I think #14 is on to something. The TV cameras are not panning Griffin doing the course -- they are focused right on the spot where he "loses control," and then barely have to adjust to where he hits the wall. Why would there be news crews out there in the first place? Practice for a charity race? Yeah, CBS and Fox send folks out to Willow Springs to film the Toyota Pro-Celebs practice all the time. This smells like fishy infotainment all right. In his Fox interview, Griffin says he was going 90 or 110. Riiiiight. If he was going that fast, he'd be dead. He was going maybe 60 around that corner and probably 35 at impact, which seems bizarre given how good the Enzo's brakes are that he couldn't stop it in time. Also, doesn't it sound like he is still revving the engine as he is hitting the brakes as he aims toward the wall -- he WANTS to be sure he keeps his speed up so that he does enough damage to the car to "total" it.
Yep, I smell "viral internet marketing campaign" all over this. May "Redline" crash and burn at the box office, and may the producers crash and burn in hell for crashing an Enzo and two Carrera GTs.

The owner of the Enzo and producer of the movie is my friends neighbor, He probably didn't even care, once he totaled a Carrera GT and went out and got another one the same day. He also bought two SLR's just because.

#1: I don't think driving a simple autocross track at autocross speed qualifies for either "hard" or "fast"
what we have here is an idiot who has no idea how to drive a high performance car. Give him a a hummer with 35's, and a nice city street to block traffic on by doing 20 mph on the 40 mph street... then maybe he'll be good
and no, that wasn't racist. Just a slam against a group of people... bling, poor taste, and ignorance know no racial lines!
