Sure, the Volvo C30's old news by now, but it's still one of this year's favorites among the Autoblog staff. This week, the automaker released a slew (seriously) of new photos to coincide with the hatchback's Australian launch, and the eye candy is such that we couldn't help but share it with you. So, please take some time to peruse the 93 photos in the enormous gallery below. Each pic is sized to suit your monitor, making them just right for most desktops as wallpaper. This is one car that's going to cause a fight among the editors when it comes time for one to slide into the Autoblog garage. Neff is so gonna pull rank...

Great pictures but in person the Volvo C30 looks even better. I saw this car at the LA Auto show and fell in love with it immediately. It reminds me of the Renault R5 from the back with its huge hips.

Haha...i looked at one of teh pictures and saw that the car was moving...then i looked at the driver seat and saw no driver...i then did a double take saying to my self " ' The Hell" then i realized it was Right hand drive

I don't know about the chick car comment... I guess you could say that... but if you see a chick driving a bannana yellow H2 Hummer, does that make it a chick car too?
More intresting is If the C30 is going to get the S40 T5's AWD and 6 speed manual attached to the 5 cylinder turbo. This make it a vary intresting car considering what performance advantage not present normaly in the hatchback market.
Of course, the S40 T5 costs about 29000 bare boned.... So any performance advantage is quickly lost when compaired to Pontiac Solstice, or Subaru WRX.

Im sorry to say, but this car looks FUGLY in the back. But looks ok in the front and sides. I personally think that you can get a WAY better offer at Volkswagen (THEY WILL EAT THIS CAR ALIVE!!!) or even Mini. I think volvo will be targeting the young and females... Because it doesnt exactly look... Manly... but what volvo does?

Fuel efficiency, easy to navigate in traffic, easy to park in small spaces. Not everybody feels the needs to compensate something with an H2...

It's a cool little car... too bad it's not RWD, otherwise I'd get it. Nice original styling.
Folkswagon? ah please... I don't want to spend all my weekends at the dealer getting it fixed. And since when was the golf a manly car? It's almost as much a chic car as the beetle.... you go buy it and be a girlymaaaaaaan *arnold's accent* !

It is a nice car but I agree with grumbles black plastic is just cheap. Does it really cost that much more to paint? My #1 complaint about my current F150.

Anybody else sick of trying to keep track of all the number combos that manufacturers give cars? If you had told me that you bought a Volvo C30 I would have figured it was an SUV.
For the price it would need to be pretty damn convincing of a drive.

Cheezedog: It will be getting the 6 speed manual, but unfortunately it looks like only FWD is available. They have most of the specs up at Volvo Canada's site...

I agree with Ronald’s assessment. I find myself struggling to find why some have a sort of fixation over this vehicle, as it really is nothing special in my view. For it is all there...the subtle Volvo family front end, the front-leaning stance, and the accentuated rear shoulders to convey an image of sport. But, then of course emerges something completely out of left field: the totally unnecessary, and hideous tail.
This has got to be one of the biggest disappointments of my car year. It’s bad enough for the C30 (cool name by the way) that the GTI, for example, is established. But now, alas, the C30 also passes as lowly when parked next to the purposeful and serious-in-all-directions GTI (in Black Magic). Call me superficial, but the rear of the C30, accompanied by those two lame little pipes, makes me not want to seriously think about purchasing it.
But in regards to the “chick car” comments, I really distance myself from opinions that if women drive a car then it is not a manly vehicle, respectively. If anything, when good-looking women drive a particular automobile, I think that it only heightens the appeal of the vehicle to be quite honest. And I would say that I think companies like Alfa Romeo, generally, seem to think this way as well.

also Ronald- having sat and driven a VW GTI and the C30-there is no comparison to the comfort and the drive of the C30. the seats in the VWs are as hard as church pews! try driving the C30- you will be surprised! Also the C30 is a modern looking car not just a re-design of an old car!

People stop saying that having plastic in the car make it cheap. Because all car have plastic in it. Even expensive cars have plastic. Under all that cloth and leather in expensive cars are plastic. It is there to make the car lighter. Imagine the interior is make will metal. Then the car will be too heavy. You can say it have cheap looking and flimsy plastic but cannot say having plastic=cheap. The button for controls have to be plastic to make it less expensive to make. Also the dash in most car is plastic. Expensive car will have wood/metal trims, cover with cloth or leather.
