When we first saw the initial rendering of Joan Ferci's Lamborghini Alar, a Diablo-based special that's somehow allowed to retain the Lamborghini nameplate, we knew it'd be pretty ugly. Now, Argentina Auto Blog, the site that brought us the original rendering, has ponied up what are reportedly the first official shots of the car, and it's just about what you'd expect.

Looking like the bastard child of a Pontiac Banshee cross-bred with leftover elements from H.R. Giger's original Alien designs, the Alar is, by all appearances, a waking nightmare on four wheels. The hammerhead shark-like nose is particularly weird-looking. Ironically, there are people who go out of their way to build kit cars that look like real Diablos. Here you have a case where perfectly good Diablos will be sacrificed in order to make them look like wacky kit cars. The mind reels.

Cool. This car will fit in nicely with the quality acting of the future cast of “Cannonball Run 3.”

      Are you serious? Gross.

I know that people have been saying that Lamborghini isn't as mad as before but this doesnt rectify the problem. This designer should be shot and brought back to life to be tortured and then killed again very slowly. This is not a Lamborghini, even if they stick the badge on the car. Wouldn't look out of place in wacky racers.

Absolutely Beautiful! I've never seen nor driven a more elegant machine! And only from Lamborghini!

#12 by Felipe " ...at least they are looking to break free from the norm..."

Broke from the norm of what, beauty?

#10 by Matthew, "Geez. What a rip-off of the Ferrari Enzo and I mean it."

      Man I'll say. What a pile-of-Enzo-wanna-be-kit-car-crap!

I like to think I’m very open minded when it comes to design and aesthetics, however this Lamborghini is by far the ugliest super-car ever... hands down! It must be joke. It's too hideous to be anything else, other than laughable.

That is nasty, I would just scap the idea of importing it to the US unless they fix the hood and rear deck. The other Lambos blow this thing way and Ferrari
and Aston better not start thinking stupid either.

After seeing this car, im gonna go crawl into a hole, position myself in the feetall position, and pray god kills whoever is responsible for designing this ugly-ass piece of shit!

Ugly? I think its kinda neat, beats most cars on the road that look like some 90s rounded brick, or some 80s-ish hummer wannabe

I almost forgot. Isn't Alar the chemical they put on apples that supposedly caused cancer? If so, Alar is an appropriate name for this car. It took a good thing like a Diablo and metastisized into something malignant.

jeez you guys are gonna flame me for this. but i
dont think it's bad. it's kind of cool. at least they are looking to break free from the norm and its not another 'looks just like' super car. sure the back looks like a wet cat, but that is one mean looking wet cat.
i think it is kind of wicked in a 'Hot Wheels car i always wanted' kind of way
