Woman exits parking garage through second floor wall

The photo pretty much tells the story here. A 49-year-old woman, who was reverse parking in a multi-story car park, mixed up the gas and brake pedals and almost ran her car completely through the second floor garage wall - check out the second photo after the jump.
Looking like something out of an action movie, this nasty situation took place on the January 23rd, 2007 in the northern German town of Langenhagen. Apparently the automatic gearbox was the villain according to the woman, who was thankfully unharmed but no doubt received the shock of her life. Wonder if anyone was walking down the sidewalk underneath when it happened?

That parking structure looks a bit flimsy if you can drive your car through the wall. Shouldn't the walls be made of concrete? It was probably designed by a woman.

A week or two ago a woman drove an F-250 off the TOP floor of a 4 or 5 story parking structure here in Memphis. After falling 40 or 50 feet the truck didn't look too good but she escaped with only minor injuries.

Ugh I hate it when people reverse park. They are never good at it and it forces others to sit there and wait for them to pull forward two or three times before they get it right.
If you can't do it quickly, you shouldn't do at all.
Same goes to the people who drive the giant Chevy Suburban and are unable to pull out of parking spots because they can't judge distances.

By the wheels I thought someone had slapped some 96 Taurus or olds intrigue rims on an old Mazda..then I read it was in Germany lol. I guess it could be possible..right? At least we (and she) are able to laugh about it and she wasnt seriously hurt, or someone else standing under her..that would make for a bad weekend!

You know... Women are just as capable of doing stupid things, (and this is a good exsample of women at the worst...) but atleast when they do.... they usualy keep there speed low enough to avoid killing someone. So Genlemen, think about that before you post here...

I love how the title starts with "Woman" and not "Driver" ;)

women cause property damage with their cars, men kill people with their cars.
What's the difference?

#6 You hypocrite. There was a first time for you, there was and is a first time for someone else.
There are millions of people born in this world after you were born.

#9, you've gotta be stupid to assume that women don't get into as serious accidents as men. Tell all the women on the Interstate that they keep their speed slow when they're overtaking me while my speedo is at 85 in their V6 minivans with loads of kids in the back.

Those damn automatic gearboxes will bite you every time. A work of the devil I say.

In the eighties, Ford had a problem with their automatics slipping from park to reverse while the car was running. The ebrake was also self-release and leaving the car running even with the brake on, could/did lead to accidents. I can't recall when Ford eventualy fixed it. Untill the problem was made public, many owners thought they were at fault and hadn't put it in park. Many an embarassed policemen used those cars during that time.

Actually no Jim, I'm not being a hypocrite. I don't reverse park into spots because I know I can park much faster by pulling in forward. But thanks so much for the accusation.
First time, my ass. I see middle aged people reverse parking all the time, and it takes them forever.

#16: This model is Ford Scorpio produced from 1992 till 1994. It had its issues but I don't remember the one you've mentioned being among them. (There were times when I longed for this car pretty badly, and somehow I still do like its look.)

Even in the very unlikely case of a tranny malfunction that big fat go slower pedal will always work and have no trouble stopping the car. I'm pretty sure for a car to break through a wall you'll have to stand on the other one...

Ask any insurance company. A male is a higher rate until he is married. A female is a much better risk for driving.

Never buy a car with the Gas filler door on the wrong side.
