One man dreams of a 2008 Camaro SS

Sure, it's just one designer's idea of how a Camaro SS might look in 2008 or beyond, but Lutz and Co. should take note of some of the design elements in this rendering by Atomicshark. The deep-set headlights with bumper-mounted foglights surrounded by the white SS stripe bring back memories of the Camaro's past, but the swoopy rear fenders seem to miss the mark a bit. We also think the four round taillights are way too close to recent Impalas, but it's always nice to dream about what might be someday.
One more rendering after the jump.

Guys, this is based on an Alfa-Romeo 8C prototype, so in truth this isn't a rendering but a so-called chop. Well technically it is a rendering, but based on something else.
The front view looks pretty nice, but the back view not as much.

These pictures are way old. The bottom picture came out a few years after the camaro was killed on 2002.
The top picture looks like a new drawing mixed with the old stuff.
As far as the Alfa, dont know when it was designed and who inspired who.

Not sure if somebody missed this news, but the new Camaro's looks have pretty much been nailed down. I remember seeing this 'chop like 2 years ago when the official pic's and prototypes had yet to be released. Well they are released now so why are we seeing this again?

ummm......he could at least base his 'chop' on the actual camaro concept car photo?????? nice effort, but i am not impressed.

So, this jackass took a perfectly beautiful design (the Alfa 8c) and shoehorned it with another perfectly beautiful design (the Camaro) and came up with a piece of plagiarized crap. And... he gets to appear on Autoblog for his efforts. Great work, Autoblog... stellar reporting.

Rear window has too much slope.
Retro it to look similar to 68' Camaro and it would be beautiful just as the front end is.
It does have the 8C lines...but the 8C has to be one of the most outstandingly stunning designs of this era.
Now the designer of the 8C, Egger, will design for Audi.

I'll be submitting some trashy rendition of a car I'd like to see sometime this afternoon. I can't wait till you post it!

NOT BAD - but, of course, it is easy to make a sporty car look good in a rendering when you show it as longer and lower.
To my eye, this is more of a Monte Carlo in size -- and God knows it would be an improvement over the present version of that car.

stretch that body to a 4dr. then slap the Impala moniker on it and GM has a vehicle of substance.

Thanks for the comments, good and bad.
I created these chops/renderings way back in 2005. Before the Camaro concept came out.
Personally I love the new Camaro concept and I would not change much if any of it to suit me.
I also love the Alfa and I thought it was the perfect basis for my Camaro chop two years ago. I did not mean to offend any of you Alfa or non-chop rendering fans out there.
If anyone would like to see my actual Camaro renderings from 2005. Here is the link:

As a designer my comments as to this rendering would be that the upper lip line on the grill needs to be smoothed out, it looks all crooked. And the other is that the rear shot has had a lot less done to it to differentiate it from the Alfa it was based on. The best 'chops are the ones where you have a hard time discerning the source vehicle. I would have tried changing the rear window shape. and maybe trying to do a different taillight shape as well, like '69 rectangle instead of '70 rounds.

Will this car be made in Canada and then described as "An American Revolution"? Thats how Chevy decieves "Buy American" folk as with the Mexican Built Avalanche, and HHR, as well as with the KOREAN built Aveo!!! Die liars!
