Big, heavy SUVs may be fading off into the background, but they aren't going away. Toyota seems to be staying in the large SUV game with an upcoming update to the giant Land Cruiser. Caught testing in Australia, the Land Cruiser looks larger than the last model, and it might end up with a diesel engine under the hood too. The new 4.5L V8 will produce over 200 HP and 300 pound-feet of torque will help the gas mileage equation while giving owners more options than ever before.

The vehicle isn't expected to be unveiled until the Tokyo Motor Show in the fall.

I rarely see them now (I live in Houston) and I doubt this one will make much of a difference. Another bland Toyota no one cares about. Why they sell it here I do not know, they have the Sequoia, even though it does tend to lose its balance now and then ;). This is no competition as usual. Why doesn't Toyota just give up on trucks and SUV's? They will never be the leader.

"LOL.and they get dummer by the second"

How DUMB that somebody calls somebody else DUMB while mis-spelling the word DUMB. Was he trying to say 'dRummer'? I don't know, but I do know that now toy4life will say it was intentional... yeah, that's right, he/she/it meant to mis-spell that word...

#18, two problems? what dream world are you living in? the sludge problem is NOW. not some years ago. 1 million recalls NOW. what about the prius recalls and law suit? what about the transaxle problems of the mid-nineties? what about the tacoma rust problems that the bed rusted off the frame? the list goes on and on. where do you get your news? toyota newsletter? until uncle sam caught up with them on recalls, they were calling them service revisions instead of recalls so they were'nt reported. in no means am i saying toyota's are bad, what i am saying is they are no better than anyone else. compare parts and service prices item by item and see who is 20% higher. yes, toyota. now take the time to click on recalls (in red to your right) and see for yourself who has the most articles written on recalls. yes, toyota.

if i wanted a dependable, boring, ugly appliance, i would consider toyota. you gotta admit the new camry looks like a tucker. put a turning headlight in that logo and your good to go.

enjoy your toyota for life, just remember, your very last ride will be in a cadillac.

Say again, what was that Toyota was claiming about being a "green" car company?

How many Priuses will they have to sell to make up for this gas guzzler?

I saw a 2006 version today. I made me wonder why someone would fork over $56,000 for something so ugly...

People don't buy Landcruiser for looks, they buy for utility. Well, excluding the soccer mom SUVs--but they usually don't drive Landcruisers anyway.

In the US, the Land Cruiser is a legendary on-road vehicle in many upscale malls where it has a reputation as a luxury mommy mobile. It is regarded as a great alternative to the Buick Rendezvous and Chrysler Pacifica.
