Audi launches microsite for upcoming A5

Click to visit the A5 microsite
It's buzz time for the Audi group as they gear up the the A5 preview at the Geneva show in March. Audi has pledged to do more marketing on the Internet lately and they've built themselves a micro-site to gear up all the Audi-files for their next dream vehicle. Micro-sites give glimpses of product and cool-looking graphics to would-be purchasers just to give them enough to want more. It starts with a shot of our planet and zooms down to the top of the A5. To get any closer you'll have to register. Take a look.

That was sooooo not worth it.
I'm on DSL, and that microsite took forever to load. Then, all I get is a stupid overhead view? Maybe I should count to 10 before posting this, but that just pissed me off. Do you know how many bandwidth trees were killed loading that stupid flash thing? And all I get is a "give me your email address". Aaargh.
Still love Audis, though.

Word, that was beyond lame. Looking forward to the car though.

Audi just wasted a minute of my life I'll never get back...and as an A4 S-line owner, I'm interested in the A5...They MUST be trying to piss people off on purpose!!!!

It was painfully slow on broadband and to get updates they wanted more information that a credit card application. I dumped it and blew it off.

It crashed my Firefox once. Tried again (thanks to Firefox) and bothered to get my info in.
I hope no one else bothers... better chance that I get one of the 1:43 scale models.

Dudes! Get a grip!
It's microsite designed to reveal more and more of the car, so of course Audi reveals close to nothing on the first day of the site. They did the same thing with the new TT. If you want the full series of shots I guess you'll have to wait until the Geneva auto show in March.
Sincerely,

Yup, it was the same for the R8 and the Q7, this is, quite simply, how audi does things and has done things. If you don't like it, why register. Why would the A5 microsite be different then any other recent microsite.
Also, the overhead view is VERy interresting. Check out the rear of the car near the C pillar, something's going on there

What did you guys expect? It's a teaser site! Better this top profile than nothing at all. More and more details will pop up as we get closer to the launch at Geneva. They can't show the car until it is released (of which is only little more than 2 weeks away). Don't worry, this will be a German Coupe worth waiting for. It is a 4 seat coupe unlike the small TT and is much larger with much more powerful engines. How does a 330bhp base engine sound or an optional V10 with over 420bhp sound in the S5?
