How about some integrated roll cage, SCCA approved seats with holes for 5/6 point harness... Bigger oil cooler, adjustable suspension.

Everyone talks up a storm about how great a deal the Z06 is, but as a track car, it sucks. Why, because it's a real pain in the ass to make it a part time track car which is reliable and safe, without essentially rebuilding the car...

So, save your money on the decals and crap and give us some love where it counts!

Chris

Comments on Chicago Preview: Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Corvette Z06

In response to Chris. How many Z06's sold to the public ever race on a track? Maybe 5%. Sucks as a track car? When they are putting it against Ferrari F430's and its track times are comparible, if not better, where/how does that suck? Especially at 1/3 of the price. I agree on useless decals and crap too. That money could be allocated to more useful racing hardware. I still maintain that this car is (by far) the biggest bang for the buck.

Steve Spears

Comments on Chicago Preview: Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Corvette Z06

We have proudly watched Ron's career blossom from his early days at Mosport in this Sunoco Camaro. This is an EXCELLENT tribute to Corvette's racing heritage.

Also, thanks to GM for launching a special edition, which actually represents a significant milestone.

One note to GM: The guys who race (not many of us -so we'll have to bring our car to Doug Rippie for mods) would like to skip the extra fluff options and have an OEM set-up like the ZO6 packages that were ready for the track in the 60's AND NOW BRING BIG $$$$ at MECUM and Barret-Jackson.

I have met Ron several times at Road America, and have to say he is a nice guy who will take the time to talk cars with you.

The Corvette ZO6 leaves everything else in the Dust !

ZZZOOMM (and not Mazda!
