Stephen Colbert asks fans to toss GM's Q3 Earning Report
On last night's episode of the Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert did something he doesn't often do: talk about sports. Turns out that fans of the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Junior Hockey League have it in for Colbert. After beating up on Stephen's team, the Saginaw Spirit, fans tossed teddy bears on the ice, a personal afront to Colbert who suffers from a well known case of bear-phobia. In retaliation, Colbert reminds the Oshawa fans that General Motors, whose Canadian HQ is located in their town and after which their team is named, is not doing so well in the market these days. In fact, he warns that they shouldn't get too cozy in that shiny new arena GM built for them, as it could be stripped for parts. In a not-so-subtle way, Colbert then provides his fans with a link to General Motors' Q3 Earnings Statement in PDF form on the Colbert Nation website. You know, just in case anyone happens to be at Saginaw's home game on January 26th and feels like tossing a copy on the ice when the Spirit stuff a puck down the Generals' throats. Behold people, this is the power of Colbert.
For those going to the game on the 26th, here's the link to the PDF file.

I didn't realize anyone watched him? Aren't his ratings worse than Olberdouche?

I really wanted to like his show. But truely he is NOT funny. He is simply a jerk who doesn't let poeple get a word in otherwise. The fact that people even agree to attend his show surprises me.

All Colbert/Stewart fans are:
1. Under 21.
2. Liberal--because Mommy and Daddy are too.
So this is par for the course. I'd say most of them would never buy an American car--simply because it's American.

Arthur you're waaaaay off. I'm at 27 year old who watches both Colbert and Stewart. I won't say hate, but I severely dislike just about all things liberal, but these shows are just entertaining. If anything it's refreshing for people to point out idiocy on both sides of the aisle.
Even though I vote mostly right-wing I still prefer Stewart as sometimes the Colbert uber-Republican schtick gets a little old.

mkbruin (post #2) - 'Olberdouche', or Keith Olbermann, is tied with Chris Matthews’ Hardball, for first place on MSNBC. His show's growth is also quite robust- a 67 percent increase from Oct.2005 to Oct.2006. In that same time period, Bill O'Reilly's show dropped 22 percent.
Paul (post #3)- you do know that Colbert is playing a character that is a parody of Bill O'Reilly? At face value, the show can be obnoxious, but when you put it back to back to the O'Reilly factor, it's disturbing to see how a 'real news' show is more disturbing than the comedy show that is mocking it.
Arthur (post 4): Contrary to your assertion that 'All Colbert/Stewart fans are under 21', a 2004 Nielsen Media Research study put the median age at 35. The study also states that viewers of Jon Stewart’s show are more likely to have completed four years of college than people who watch “The O’Reilly Factor.”

mkbruin,
Somebody must watch, shows that aren't watched get cancelled. Or are you one of those people who has no idea why things you don't like still exist?
Arthur,
I'm 58, and I watch Colbert and Stewart because they're funny IMO (which opinion, like yours, is the only one that really counts when it comes to what's funny). And my car? built in Flat Rock Michigan by union labor (but then only a liberal would care about union labor right?)

Piling onto the anti-Arthur bandwagon; this Colbert fan is over 21, voted for Kerry while his parents voted Bush, and has never considered buying anything outside the original Big 3. So much for being open-minded! hahaha.

Arthur- I disagree with what you said about Colbert/Stewart. I am under 21, but I am not Liberal, my parents immigrated to the US from Ukraine, and are also Republicans. I would consider myself Republican/Libertarian for the most part. I watch those shows because they are funny. What channel are they on? COMEDY CENTRAL...light turns on. Its not suposed to be completely serious. Big deal if he makes fun of conservatives and the president...heck, i laught at it too, doesnt mean that i disagree..oh by the way All of the car/van/trucks that we have owned since 91' have been fords...greatest cars ever in my opinion

If you don't like Colbert, you don't understand or appreciate the irony. Colbert, Stewart, Olberman are great! especially in todays worthless media environment. I'm 35 and I drive a VW. Now I must be shunned and stoned by some of the logic here.

O'Reilly will be on the Colbert Report tomorrow. If my mom drank so much while she was pregnant with me that I believed in the Book of Revelation then I would think that this is a sign of the apocalypse. Hopefully O'Reilly won’t be too much of a sick pervert during the interview (i.e., his “Those Who Trespass” book) since so many people under 21 apparently watch the Colbert Report.

Todd, you need to watch more Colbert. You should know by now that logic isn't at play here - it's all from the gut. Why reason when I can _feel_ the truth?
Oh, and since we're doing the A/S/L retort against Arthur's silly post - I'm pushing 30, raised Conservative Christian, drive nothing but American-made, and have become a full-on bleeding-heart liberal after corrupting my brain with nearly a decade of dangerous liberal College book learnin'.
Commence hating me.

What Arthur said is total truthiness...as in "I believe it in my gut, so it must be true" That falls under Subjectivism...for those who studied Philosophy/Ethics.

Grown-assed man here, over 40. Love Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, Jon is funnier. I agree with both political parties some of the time. O'Reily is a pompus ass. In a comical way, the Daily news and the Colbert Report are more truthful than anything on the FOX News has to say.
When Dubya needed a Press Secretary, whom did he hire? A Fox News employee.
