VIDEO: 2008 Hyundai Veracruz B-roll
Here's a look at what is obviously company-produced "b-roll" video for the 2008 Hyundai Veracruz, which was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show this week. A B-roll is produced for advertising and news sources to use and generally portrays the vehicle being used just as the company designed it to be. In this case, mainly between the curbs with very light off-road use.
After seeing the Veracruz in person, we can say that it appears Hyundai has a potential winner on its hands. Naturally, sales will tell us whether or not we're right, but we think there's room at the table for a crossover with as much style as this one shows inside and out. ENJOY!

I'll take one too.
Don't own a Hyundai but a fan of recent Sonata,Sante Fe and Azera. Now the Veracruz is being introduced.
Hyundai seems to be producing very good vehicles for less $$ than competitors.
Time will tell if these are very good buys for the long haul or just upfront $$ savers.
Maybe the 100K warranty should speak for itself..if they believe maybe I should also.

I'm not a fan of the exterior styling--proportions look all wrong to me, overhangs too long and too shapeless--but the interior is nice. Thing is, I'd say the same exact thing about the Mazda CX-9. And about the underwhelming Subaru Tribeca, except it's a half-size smaller and thus too tight inside.
We'll also have a redesigned Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander within the next couple of years. I suspect they'll both be rounder and more car-like than they currently are. Meanwhile, the Ford Freestyle and Chrysler Pacifica are already in this space, and neither has met sales expectations.
GM has fielded something a bit different with the Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia. They're a half-size larger and styled more like conventional SUVs, but with great proportions. The Buick Enclave will be more stylistically similar to the Japanese.
Bottom line is that this is a crowded field, and no one seems to have found the magic formula yet despite a number of intelligently designed entries.
What will make the Hyundai different? Perhaps the price, but that remains to be seen. The Mazda and GM products are certainly pricey, leaving plenty of room for Hyundai to slide in well beneath them. To check out pricing on all but the Hyundai (pricing not annouced yet):

If you want to guess the price, see how much the Sonata undercuts the Mazda6, then do similar math with the Mazda CX-9 prices. The Veracruz can be fairly pricey and still undercut the big Mazda.

Hmmm
Yet another little cumbox with the warranty stapled on the hood. If the price wasnt lower.. and if that warranty wasnt of the bait and switch variety.. they wouldnt have a leg to stand on.

i love it how Hyundai always goes on autoblog and comments on itself how great the car is how well priced it is... These advertising methods are laughable hyundai!!!!
This car looks like it was designed by a chinese carmaker (not a good thing)
And we all know that Durability, Long term Quality and Hyundai should never be mentioned in the same sentence

Notice how the front end improves in Black vs Silver..lower grill goes away. Looks pretty good for what it is. There's going to be more pressure on the very normal looking Acadia and Outlook from both top and bottom. These guys + H&T have pushed GM and Ford out of the mini-van market: are mid-SUV's next? I'm sure H & T will be happy to let GM keep Escalade.

You can have your Ege, but the Veracruz will still get better gas mileage, have more standard equipment and amenities for less money, and haul 2 more passengers. Have you read any reviews of the Edge at all?

nice ride, but the tires look a little small aka: pre2007 MDX. Hope they put some decent size rubber on it.

The base model get's 17" wheels. The mid-range and limited models get 18" wheels. The Veracruz's turning circle is 4 ft. shorter than GM's new crossovers. It's even 1 ft. shorter than a Lexus RX350's turning circle.

18" would be nice, would add a rugged look. sounds like it is going have decent handling dynamics if they can keep the weight down. i look foward to the intro. at the chicago auto show next month.
