Infiniti releases brushstroke art of crossover concept

Labeled simply "CROSSOVER" this brushstroke profile of an upcoming concept was released by Infiniti today. Actually, Infiniti called this line drawing a "gesture" of a "new luxury crossover concept" that we'll be seeing at the New York International Auto Show in April. Infiniti even promised that the production version of this luxury crossover concept will be in Infiniti showrooms by the end of 2007. Is it a new FX replacement? It actually looks like a Mazda RX-8 to some of us, and definitely not a four-door. Perhaps it's an altogether new model to go head-to-head with all those crossover coupe offerings coming from the Euro luxury car makers like the the BMW X6 or Land Rover Coupe. Perhaps with all of the leaked photos that came out ahead of the Detroit unveilings, this will be the closest we get to seeing what the mystery vehicle really looks like until April in New York.

the CX. I doubt we will see it by end of the year. considering the nissan rouge is barely going to be out. As for the sketch...it looks like a pretty steep hatch for a small cuv.

Why does every new "crossover" design look more and more like a hatchback, but no one would dare use that word in America? Why is a lowered fake truck "sporty"?

Moronic.
They're simply trying to turn a "brushstroke" into something people associate with Infiniti. They've been hitting us with the same thing in their line of mediocre TV ads as well.

Watch, this "gesture" is gonna turn out to be the long rumored baby FX crossover once known as the CX. (With Mazda using the CX name now I doubt it'll be called that.) The FX is due for a makeover soon though so I can see why some say this might be an FX replacement. My money is on baby FX formerly known as CX. Whatever it turns out to be I'm gonna get a first hand look at it as New York is my hometown.

Because of a crossover is a wagon and wagons open up like a hatch. DUH! As far as the rest you asked, just makes you a more obvious "Dit Da Dee" ( in the words of Carlos Mencia).
You are a "Dit Da Dee"
You are a "Dit Da Dee"
You are a "Dit Da Dee"
You are a "Dit Da Dee"
You are a "Dit Da Dee"

I think this is the new FX. It looks like it the drawing. It needs a redesign anyway.

As if GM's "this could work if we could only harness the power of kitten farts" concept wasn't bad enough, Infiniti has upped the game to slight profiles of a concept. great. erm... profile of a soon to be announced production car? fine. But just a concept? give me a break. CONCEPT. sheesh.

we've got a irritable group here today, I see.
I like the gesture. Look forward to seeing the actual vehicle before I get as pissed off as the rest of you here.

It's very plausible that this is a whole new line, not just a new FX. They've gotta give Infiniti something new - it only makes sense they'd be getting a new line after the dealers made such a hubbub about not getting the Skyline in their showrooms.

What a bunch of wannabe critics. nfiniti has the balls to be a little artistic and a little Japanese and this bunch of whiners goes off on them. I hope it's stunning and they forbid any of you cretins from buying one.
Get back to selling beer and cigarettes at the 7-11 so you can put gas in your rusted out Cutlasses.

BACKLASH:
FIRST OF ALL, I'M BEGINNING TO HAVE MY DOUBTS ABOUT INFINITI'S DAZZLING NEW CROSSOVER COUPE. I RECENTLY SAW A POSTING ABOUT THE COMPANY'S UPCOMING CX25 AND CX35 MODELS; BUT THESE INCREDIBLY TEPPID LOOKING CROSSOVERS RESEMBLED NOTHING MORE THAN NISSAN ROGUES WITH A HIGHLY UNDERWHELMING NOSE JOB. I HAVE JUST ONE THING TO SAY ABOUT THIS DEVELOPING STORY. AFTER RELEASING THAT HIGHLY EXPRESSIVE SO-CALLED "GESTURE" THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FORESHADOW A NEAR FUTURE INFINITI CROSSOVER COUPE, THE COMPANY HAD BETTER BRING THEIR "A" GAME TO NEW YORK IN EARLY APRIL. COMPETITION IN THIS MARKET SECTOR IS REALLY STARTING TO HEAT UP, AND INFINITI CERTAINLY DOESN'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF "GESTURE" THEY'RE GOING TO BE GETTING FROM THE COLLECTIVE BUYING PUBLIC IF THEY FAIL TO BRING SOMETHING TRULY AWESOME; NOT TO MENTION THE HELL THAT FRANCHISE OWNERS WILL BRING TO BEAR. AS FAR AS THEY'RE CONCERNED, IT'S MORE THAN BAD ENOUGH THAT ONLY NISSAN IS GOING TO GET THE HIGHLY PUBLICIZED SKYLINE GTR MODEL TO SELL. THAT INFORMATION ALONE, NEARLY STARTED AN OPEN REVOLT. BUT IF THEY THEN GET STIFFED WITH NOTHING BUT A TARTED UP MINI UTE THAT JUST TAKES UP SPACE ON THE SALES LOT AND ADDS TO THEIR DEBT LOAD, THERE'S GOING TO BE A MASSIVE ASSAULT ON NISSAN'S CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS IN TENNESSEE, AND CARLOS GHOSEN WILL BE LEFT DEARLY REGRETTING THE TRANSFER OF HIS CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS FROM LOS ANGELES TO NASHVILLE. RIGHT NOW, ONLY A VERY SMALL CIRCLE OF INFINITI EMPLOYEES KNOW THE REAL INSIDE SKINNY, BUT WE'LL ALL BE PRIVY TO THE TRUTH IN ABOUT SIX WEEKS. PERSONALLY, I HAPPEN TO LIKE THE INFINITI BRAND. BUT IF THIS EFFORT FALLS FLAT AND IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY SURGERY ISN'T PERFORMED ON THE FX TWINS, I THINK THE BRAND MIGHT BE IN REAL TROUBLE. INFINITI'S DEALERSHIP NETWORK IS AMONG THE VERY BEST. BUT UNLESS THEY HAVE A FRESH LINEUP OF VEHICLES, NO ONE'S GOING TO GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE IT. I'M DAN SMITH FROM SQUARE-ONE AUTOMOTIVE.
