Detroit Auto Show: Live pics of the Camaro Convertible

click on above image to view high-resolution gallery
Earlier this evening at the GM Style event held in a big tent next to their Renaissance Center headquarters, the automaker publicly unveiled the new Camaro Convertible concept. It's basically a metallic orange open top version of the coupe they showed last year. We posted a mega-gallery of official shots a few days ago, and more details will be coming tomorrow from the show. Until then you can enjoy the new gallery of live shots.

So....is it just a re-skinned Vette? Thats what it looks like to me.

#1 I doubt its a reskinned Vette, historically they have never shared a chassis.

Awesome just awesome, especially the hugger orange with stripes although I'd probably want the coupe version.

Paint job reminds me of the Challenger concept.

The colours are the same but the Challenger Looks so much better then this thing. Of the three ponies Challenger would be the best to go for and best looking in Black, Blue or Silver.

The Camaro is based off the new Zeta platform which is already in use on the new Holden Commodore and derivatives in Australia

Actually this is a color scheme similar to the SS cars in the late 60's. Among his collection, my dad has a 1969 SS 396 El Camino which has this exact color scheme and similar striping. The color then was called "Competition Orange".

Judging from the way the car is sized with the woman driving it. It look like they made it too skinny it lost some of its width and low profile look to me. It is too retro even the 69 had a wide stance and lower profile. I wonder which model that is. Is it the ss cause if so they really need to lower it and give it a more wide stance. I hope thats not production if so it sits up like a mustang and thats not good for us f body lovers.
