RR of the Year: Poll results

When we started this poll last week, there was little doubt in our minds what vehicles would hold the top slots. We knew that Chuck's Jag would be a reader favorite and as polling continued that assumption proved correct. Although the E-type was enjoying the top slot, the NSX, EVO MR and '71 Celica were following close behind.
Then, over the weekend, a massive "get out the vote" campaign enacted by the online Saab community began building momentum. When we ended the poll on New Year's Eve, a thoroughly unbelievable 28-percent of the vote was locked in for the Saab 900.
So, with that in mind, we're prepared to announce that the Autoblog Reader Ride of the Year is the 1987 Saab 900 Turbo convertible owned by a gentleman by the name of Patrick. Congratulations Patrick, your community supported you well.
As for the runners up, the aforementioned '65 Jag E-Type came in second, followed by the '91 NSX, the EVO MR and the S2k-powered 1971 Celica.
Congratulations to all involved!

Lets see, an 87 Saab with misalligned doors beat the picture perfect 65 Jag....
hmmmm, so I guess the Saab owners are like a herd of sheep, following one another blindly - "must vote for my car, must vote for my car, bababa baaaaa"

Yea, like these things are everywhere, and soooooooo popular. Different strokes, Yada, Yada, yada. 3739 TOTAL votes isn't much of a party. 1056 people for it, also says only a third of those responding liked this thing. A large MAJORITY don't, and voted for something else. Rate this thing one on one with another likeness vehicle. That's a test. Don't get me wrong, this vote does say something, but what?

For some reason I don't buy these results.
The Saab is a nice car, but I just don't think it's possible that out of that list of 15 cars 28% voted for the Saab.
I'm calling Yatsee!

From a future MasterCard commercial:
1967 Camaro SS - $25,000
1991 Acura NSX - $30,000
1965 Jaguar E-type - $35,000
1987 Saab 900 - WORTHLESS

that's such crap... I think I'd take any other car on that list over the Saab.

People were REALLY voting for the Maine Central caboose behind it.
That's a classic.

Wow, that kinda sucks. I still consider the Jag the best one this year, and to hell with online voting.

The fix is in or those that voted are not true car people.
Any of the following would have made sense:
Corvette
Porsche
Exotic
Classic
Muscle
But a Saab?
C'mon!

Far far prettier than a Jaguar, yes indeed.

i'm not knocking the saab in any way - but honestly, the jag is in a completely different class than any of the others.

I've always liked the 900 and came close to buying a 9000 Aero. Still, considering the exceptionally good competition a 900 convertible winning with 28% is like waking up on November 5th, 2008 and finding out Ralf Nader is our next president.

Jaguars were so poorly engineered/reliable back then it would been laugh win.
There was vote campaign in one Saab fansite, then forum posts in few other sites. I would not call it "massive".

I've never understood the Saab faithful, what's the attraction? It'd be interesting to see a single elimination tournament style championship (NCAA 64 style). That would stop similar cars from splitting the vote.

Wow, you guys are immature.
Get over it. The best car won. It's done.
Only a true car enthusiast would understand the true value of a Saab. Saabs are amazing cars, with an amazing heritage.
