Autoblog Night Watch: The original Getaway in Stockholm
We can't remember how many years it's been since the first outlaw Getaway in Stockholm was released. Since then, the infamous Mr. X has put out a total of seven different short flicks, giving viewers a taste of life on the edge.
Originally inspired by Claude Lelouch's 1976 short, C'était un rendez-vous, or It Was an Appointment, Mr. X sought to outdo his predecessor and put to shame the movie that now bares the infamous series' name. Over the years, each new movie brings another vehicle onto the streets of Stockholm and for the inaugural run, the coupe in question is none other than a Porsche 911 Turbo.
So with that little bit of background, enjoy the show. But remember, we don't condone this sort of thing, we just post on it.

Great camera angles but not quite as exciting as the drive through Paris.

Old school vid, I remember when I first saw this its was very original and nothing like it before. Except for the even older run through Paris with the Ferrari.

Is it recycle 6 year old news day? What kind of journalism starts with "We can't remember how many years it's been..." ? Google it and you'll see the first film was in 2000.
Also, Ghost Rider has nothing to do with Getaway in Stockholm, it's Mr X that does the GIS series. Ghost Rider is someone who disputes that GIS is genuine and/or realistic.
Top quality research guys. One minute reading a quick google of WIKIPEDIA GETAWAY STOCKHOLM would have resulted in an accurate article.

Metallic pad on metal brake disc. I see them from my car if I hit them hard on the street especially when they are not up to temp.
Also, I do not think that 911 was a turbo even though it has the wing. It sounds like it has exhaust and intake mods.

You should really practice the tag.

Yeah, the first 3 GIS movies were great! In my opinion the best is the second with the Ford Escort vs. the Supra. All the other movies, which came later more or less sucked.
btw... There are plenty of pictures of "Mr X" on the net, as well as the supposedly unknown Ghostrider. :)

Here in the US, and some 40 years younger, I ran the cops on many a night. I had superior iron of the day, (GTO'S, Corvett), but the law had 440 powered Dodges, and radios. The name of the game was run high speed for very short distances, turn on a sideroad, run again, turn again, and so on for a SHORT time. The less time you spent running the car at speed, the less the chance you would get caught, or wrecked. As I look back, the practice was very stupid. People could have been killed. I am much prouder of my track racing even though it was less spectacular. Given the length of time of the video, and the fact that the driver had outrun the persuers much earlier, to continue the run was very unnecessary, and extreamly dangerous. This all looks great, until someone dies.

i interviewed mr x over dinner in 2004. i asked him about the NWA over the title credits (the DVD version has different music). this is the original VHS version produced for his friends and associates and was never meant for general release.
the interview was published in Autosalon magazine (australia).
actually i am surprised he hasn't emailed you yet, asking you to take it down.

Did you see the red light cameras go off at about the 4:00 mark? either that or he had fans with advance notice waiting for him.

That sorta reminds me of my morning commute in the Camry.

This is terribly boring in comparison to C'était un rendez-vous.

This is nifty, except that it's totally illegal, stupid, careless, reckless, and silly. Plus it always struck me as a little bit fake, or at least, contrived.
Rendezvous is cool, except that the car sounds are pretty obviously dubbed in.

SURPRISED you did not warn of the language.
If the Swedish cops were like American cops, they would be sure to track him down and kick him in the
ICE HOLE.

Old or new, legal or not, the sound of that turbo, that blow-off valve poppin' gives me goosebumps. Just plain sick!
