POLL: RR of the Year
UPDATE: We've added one vehicle we neglected to put in the poll, and decided since the voting just began this morning that it would only be right to restart the poll with all the RR of the Week winners included. Vote again, whether you have or haven't done it before.

We've been awash with COTY awards for the better part of a month and, to be honest, we just don't care. Few of us around the Autoblog water cooler plan on purchasing a brand new whip in the future, but visions of late night drives and track days in our ride dance in our minds. We imagine that many of you are just like us and have a considerable amount of pride in what you drive. That idea -- that cars that haven't rolled off the assembly line within the last year deserve some attention in a world obsessed with The New -- is exactly why we've asked you to submit your vehicles to our Flickr pool for proper recognition.
Since we started our Reader Ride of the Day a few months back, it's turned into one of our favorite posts to write up. Being able to pick through the nearly 400 vehicles submitted and to give one its time in the spotlight is, to say the least, a highlight of our day.
Of the close to 60 vehicles we've featured each week, you've voted on your favorite and we've decided to give you the chance to crown one vehicle Autoblog's Reader Ride of the Year. After the jump, you'll find all 14 contenders and you can vote for your favorite in the poll below. Good luck to all the entrants and be sure to submit your own ride so we can kick off the New Year right.
POLLING CLOSED AT 9 PM, DECEMBER 31st.

How to submit to RR of the Day:
Create a Flickr account if you don't already have one. Search for and join the group called 'Autoblog RR of the Day'. Upload up to three photos of your ride to your own account at a size no larger than 450 pixels wide if possible and include as much information about it and yourself as possible. Even if your ride is sweet, it will not be chosen if there's not a lot of info accompanying it. Click on each photo and just above the picture it will say "Send to group". Click that and select the Autoblog group. You're done, that's it!

Oh oh oh, I know the answer for this one! Vote for the Lotus! ;) If you click back to the story and read my comments in it you'll see that the psychics at Autoblog somehow managed to make my car ride of the day the same day that I lost my job. Surely that qualifies it for RR of the year! If that doesn't do it then maybe some more photos will! http://www.fleur-design.net/lotus
(end shameless plug) ;)
I'm really not that shallow, I just get a kick out of the timing of events that day. I actually voted for the Volvo T5R, those cars are just sooooo cool.

Its not even fair to put the E-type in there, hands down the coolest car ever made.
Coolest. Car. Ever.

Out of all the cool cars you've featured this is the most(for the most part, the E-type is way cool)lame list you could have come up with. Yes, where is the P-1800 and the Corvair? Two totally unique vehicles.

Hands down the Jaguar E-Type, WAY ahead of it's time in styling & performance. A true collector's Gem!

Hands down: 855 T5-R. It'll basically trounce most of the other cars on the list while proudly wearing a "Baby on Board" sign! How can you go wrong?

So many people swing from the E-type's dangly bits... My love goes to the Celica.

Thanks guys, I'm floored and very honored (again!) to have the car in a very nice group. Hard to pick a fav among some of the others... I love old 912s, I lust after an Elise, and that Corvair is amazing.
Ironically I just had the old E-type out today for its first drive since early October. The weather here has been *awful* for the past two months, but I needs to get out and get some exercise every once in a while. It was a very cold (my teeth were chattering) ride in the open topped car, but worth every minute! Just a run into town and back (about 10 miles) to get the engine warmed up and give it a little winter workout. Then back in the garage and under the cover until the next dry (enough) spell for another short run. Rain is expected again by late afternoon.
I come back, check my RSS feed and sure enough, here it is again!
Thanks again for all the kind comments. The Jaguar is a family heirloom, as it belonged to my father and I am doing my best to pass on the "car guy" gene to my sons. We participate in TSD Rallies and Autocross (there are some Auto-X pics of it in action in the Flikr group.) I also like to take long father/son roadtrips in the E-type too. I'm planning one down to California with my youngest son this year.
If any of you are in the area and would like to see the car in person, just let me know. I've already arranged to trade a drive in it for some wheel-time in an Elise come springtime. Whoo hoo!

A few of you seem to be confused about how these 15 vehicles were chosen. All the contendors are winners during their RR of the Week poll, as chosen by you. There were plenty of cars that we think should have been included, but they didn't make the cut.

Thanks to Autoblog for getting my Corvair added to the poll.
As Chuck said, this is a great honor, and all the cars in the poll are awesome. All the nice comments about Corvairs that were posted during forced-fed week were great to see for such an under-appreciated automobile.
I particularly like the diversity of the nominees in the Ride of the Year poll, there is something here for just about anyone! Good luck to everyone involved!

A 71 Celica 12% ahead of a 67 Camaro 10%????? Holy Christ!
