Mystery JDM car revealed as Honda Crossroad
UPDATE: More photos added after jump

The mystery JDM vehicle we showed you traipsing around downtown L.A. a week or so ago has been revealed to be the Honda Crossroad, a utility vehicle that's smaller than a CR-V destined only for the Japenese domestic market. Though we were more than certain the vehicle was a Honda, we and many of you were ready to put money down on it being the new HR-V. Well, it's not the HR-V, but it may actually replace that vehicle in Honda's lineup. Information is still super sketchy, but these pictures prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it's not a Ford!

The question remains: what was it doing in LA? There doesn't seem to be room for it between the CR-V and Element, so US sales don't make sense. But hauling it over here seems like an awfully expensive exercise if Honda doesn't have any US market plans for it...

Poor Honda, a great many posts thought it was a ford!
I think it makes a better Ford than a Honda.

If that replaced the Element, I'd consider getting an Element. That's actually nice-looking.

Sure does have a Ford grille on it though, don't it?

Nice Looking?
I'm sorry, but that's one ugly looking truck. I usually prefer JDM over US branded stuff, but even the Element is light years ahead of this thing. I'm glad we're not getting this one on our shores.

Ford fanboys:
randy, jaydez, Bedhead, RC, dakota, Josh E. Oliver, trans_am02, Goodday, Mike, SilverAero, Taylor Alexander, ryan, Model Z, JC, Allan Wolozny, Kotse, James, Paul, Jonathan, Mark B. Morrow, Herschel Brown, Justin G, Mathew Johnson, Rick, whatwasthat, Michael
Nissan fanboys:

So the question is, those who asserted that it was a Ford or Nissan, (especially the Ford fanboys who said that this car was beautiful and that it would sell like hotcakes)... now that it's revealed that it's a Honda, what do you have to say?

I like the look of that. It sorta reminds me of the new ford look, like a smaller-grilled edge, but it looks nice. I'd take this over the element any day of the week. It should be brought to the US to see if it sells well- people love their SUV's, and this looks the "toughest" of any small SUV I've seen, aside from the FJ cruiser. But that doesn't have the same practicality as this does. I bet it'd do well enough.

it looks like a mismash of vehicles from several manufacturers. a blatant ford front end, the shape of a gm minivan with a dash of hummer (something about the windows), and the rear end of... something. maybe an escalade with vertically stretched taillights. whatever it is, it's ugly.

If Honda put out a saltine box with wheels it would sell just b/c its a Honda. Most Honda's have very practical usage points and their drivetrains are quite reliable and efficient.

I actually think it looks better than the new CR-V. Atleast this one has a clean-cut design language. The CR-V? I doubt the designers themselves know what the heck it's supposed to look like.

Thank you! You can all write your checks out to "I told you this wasn't a ford!"
The "three-bar grill = FORD FAIRLANE" comments got pretty annoying, but not nearly as much as the folk's who thought this was actually a volvo just cause of the tall tail lights that went up to the roof.

ugly, ugly, ugly. I like nothing about it. They will probably sell in the millions. Gota have that trendy, no acceleration, poor handeling, box mini minivan look.

Civic is ugly.
Accord is the dullest looking thing on wheels.
This is better looking than an element, but thats faint praise.
Apparently, Honda is pulling a GM - cheapening the entry cars to force folks to their upmarket brands.

Actually Honda has used this grille around 1999 with the StepWGN and is still using a version of this grille in the Mobilio/Mobilio Spike versions in Japan.
