VIDEO: PM does burnouts in Police Charger
Slow news day, so maybe this just seems more entertaining right now than it really is. The guys over at Popular Mechanics had the keys to a Dodge Charger police car and shot some video of themselves doing a couple of burnouts and donuts with this Hemi-powered beast. Personally, we'd prefer to see them chasing down some unsuspecting speeders and illegal street racers, and then beating them at their own game. Our lawyers have advised us to strike that last line, so please forget you ever heard it. Something about impersonating an officer and making irresponsible suggestions to break the law.
Thanks for the tip, Ben.

Those donuts seem weak for a HEMMY POWA'D BEAST.

Torque Converters and Slushboxes put such a damper on Hemi power

Yeah open differential and skinny 225/60 18 tires
although the wheels are 7.5" wide, 245/55 18 can easily replace those.

And was that really necessary?
A big waste of time, money, ... imo and I sure hope this is not a trend in car testing.

Man...too bad you can't turn the traction control all the way off in one of these. If you listen, just as the engine really starts to climb into the power band of the rev range, you can hear what sounds like the driver backing off. Come on...345 hp through an open diff and that's all the guy can get this to do? Thanks, Big Brother! Maybe Mopar should write their own stability control maps instead of using Mercedes's. Hell yeah, #1, they seem weak all right.

You do realize that this is one that is owned by Dodge that they let everyone play with right? I saw this car or one like it with a matching Dodge Magnum at a car show in St. Louis

Hardly an open diff. This definitely has some sort of LSD since it's spinning both. You will never do that with a good-ole one wheel drive axle.
Looks like they weren't trying to do true donuts either, more like a smoking 180 takeoff like the badges do heading to the donut shop.

It has a little thing called brake actuated traction control.
Anyone remember that VW New Beetle doing a burnout in MotorTrend about 5 years ago?

No it's not. Daimler Chrysler owns the car.
ESP CAN BE turned all the way off on police editions.
