HUMMER's H3 Open-Top Concept
You can already get a big sunroof on your new HUMMER H3, but not one this big. The H3 Open-Top Concept that HUMMER will feature at the 2007 North American International Auto Show will feature this "Ifinivu" sliding fabric roof system, not entirely unlike the one we've seen perched atop this next generation Jeep Liberty test mule. That's not surprising since we know ASC designed the unit for the H3 Open-Top and is likely the supplier for Jeep's unit, as well. As you can see, the Infinivu system allows you to reel the top all the way back, all the way forward, or anywhere in between. There's only one crossbar behind the second row seats, which shouldn't impede anyone's view of the ample sky. With the back glass retracted into the rear door and the roof pulled all the way to the front, the H3 Open-Top would make a perfect vehicle for an African Safari... or a party wagon for cruising in the Woodward Dream Cruise.
The actual concept will also feature Silver Spectra Flair tri-coat paint with blacked out wheel wells, Mickey Thompson Baja Claw 325/50R20 tires, and a custom lambskin leather interior with black chrome door panel trim, along with a host of other HUMMER accessories that any customer can already buy out of their catalogue.

HUMMER H3 OPEN TOP CONCEPT GIVES NEW MEANING TO OPEN-AIR DRIVING
DETROIT – The 2007 HUMMER H3 has an available oversized power sunroof for an open-air feel, but the H3 Open Top concept goes a step further with ASC's unique sliding fabric "Infinivu" roof system. The expanded opening provides a nostalgic, safari-style experience in a thoroughly modern midsize SUV. The look and fun factor are classic, but the ease of operation, durability and weather resistance are strictly contemporary. Black chrome finish on the numerous H3 Chrome Appearance Package items available from HUMMER Accessories offsets the sparkling silver paint. Inside, the primary upholstery material is Townsend lambskin leather with Gatsby Green accent stitching.

This poses to be the best competition towards the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. When choosing my next car it 07 Unlimited vs. H3x but with convertible top and similar looks the Unlimited was the best choice. Now Hummer has outdone them...I can't wait to see this in action and more importantly in the showroom.

I don't like the vehicle that it's on at all, but as a concept its really well executed. Hopefully they'll apply to other, more practical vehicles.

1948 Citroen 2CV... In the days before a proper trunk lid, from the top of the window to the rear bumper....nothing new.

My son's ass rots in Iraq on a second tour so idiots can drive these wastes around and keep our insane oil addiction alive and well. Support our troops, DON'T EVEN CONSIDER DRIVING A GAS GUZZLING PIECE OF CRAP!

Craig....no offense, but your son was not drafted and choose to go into the military on his own accord, so regardless of where he is, it is his own choice. I hope he gets home safely, I hope all troops do, but let’s not pretend that it is anyone else’s fault why he is in Iraq.

Craig,
I very much appreciate you son volunteering to protect our freedoms and American interests.
As for the H3, I would seriously consider one if I could get it with a V8.

I agree with #2 on both accounts but I can'thelp thinking how much easier it will be for the rotten tomatoes to reach their target.

Great...so there is absolutely NO visibility out the back with the top "up"?
And I more-or-less agree with Craig....except I think it's ok to drive a gas guzzler if you're making over 400ft-lbs in a rwd sports car. SUVs on the other hand, are useless to most consumers and just plug up our roads.

H3's get about 15-17mpg combined mileage.
Better than half of the cars on the road today I am sure.
Or can all people afford new cars that get 30+ mpg?

Maybe Dodge can apply it to their Nitro. It's a more practical box with very similar styling or the upcoming LR2.
