Bob Lutz and GM VP of Global Design Ed Welburn are seen at right giving us a sneak peek of the new Cadillac CTS that will be unveiled at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The picture is almost a carbon copy of the peek we got way back when Lutz lifted the cover off the car during a
60 Minutes piece (picture also at right). So really, this shot shows us nothing new. (Sigh.) Regardless, the front end of the new CTS certainly looks bigger, sharper and bolder than the current model. The new car will go into production later in the summer of 2007 and arrive in dealerships the following fall.

I hope the NAIAS website messes up again and reveals the entire car... but otherwise its nothing new. It looks really good though.

I have this feeling that there is a big suprise waiting past that grill... otherwise why hide anything at all?
Pitcrew @ Dec 19th 2006 3:28PM
WOW that car is going to be amazing........Bring it on!!!!
Phil @ Dec 19th 2006 3:30PM
Cadillac will continue to get more sales out of CTS because it is bold, clean, and just sophisticated enough!
Be Oh Be @ Dec 19th 2006 3:32PM
That is going to be one eye-catching Caddy I think. I'm looking forward to testing out the 2008 V-Series version!
chewy @ Dec 19th 2006 3:33PM
Everyone is following Audi/VW and going with big trapezoid shaped grills.

DAM DAM DAM. That is OFF DA CHAIN. Ya'll not ready!!!
Simply incredible.
Lithous @ Dec 19th 2006 3:40PM
Many people complained that the Aura was watered down a little too much and so this just shows the Cadillac isn't going to be from it's small preview. So it isn't news but it kinda is (good news).
BOB @ Dec 19th 2006 3:41PM
Yeah, we saw that already. NOW, Lutz and Welburn, how about a complete line of American looking and hot, cars for all GM divisions but Saturn?
Please stop figuring out how to sell 5 units of Cadillacs, instead of 3, in Germany next year, and take care of the core.
I was going to tell you to stop messing up the back ends of Cads with the wide license plate wells meant to mimic Mercedes, but I see by the pic that you do not intend the cars to carry ANY plates.
All that work, and trumpeting, and no place to put the front plate on the CTS without spoiling it. Or did you leave out the hole on the showcar?
BOB @ Dec 19th 2006 3:42PM
#6 -- to be fair, Cadillac used a grille that went as far down in the early 70's, with only bumper guards at the sides to protect it.
Of course, all the GMs in that day had very inadequate bumper protection, and soon became saddled with huge Federally mandated bumpers which spoiled the lines of the cars. In my view, that was the last gasp of the stylists' having too much power, leading to the huge, overreacting and destructive swing to "bean counter control" and the HORRID 80's front drive lookalike fiasco.
Mr_Oak @ Dec 19th 2006 3:43PM
This is a much clearer, better angle shot of the front end. What's up with the burlesque show, either rip it all off, go back to the dressing room.
When is the CTS-V going to be in the showrooms. I want the mean mutha!!
The General is about open a can of industrial strength whupA$$. Kinda feel really bad for Ford, GM and DCX are throwing haymakers (SRT-8 and CTS-V) and all Ford can manage is a limp jab (MK-Z).
Word to Ford: Get off the ropes man, they're killing you.
ron @ Dec 19th 2006 3:44PM
Goodbye Lexus, heeelllllllloooooo Caddy. Better than the ugly and girlish ES.
pd @ Dec 19th 2006 3:46PM
This is going to be GM's HOTTEST SELLING car next year!!! Cant wait to see the V-SERIES.

rheath2 @ Dec 19th 2006 3:55PM
Uh, is it just me or does the front end look an awful lot like the upcoming Malibu, only with a different grill and slightly lower front air dam?
apk @ Dec 19th 2006 3:57PM
How about a peak at the engine bay and the interior to see if they:
-give it an interior and engine to compete at the entry-luxo level
-a manual tranny you can actually test drive and buy off the lot
Mike @ Dec 19th 2006 3:58PM
I LOVE deceptive camera angles...two men of average stature, down on bended knee, and their heads are even with the roof...
I say homerun as well, but the comment about the front plate is pretty accurate.
As far as the oversized shield... look at any Caddy from, well, ANY time, 1950's on, and you will se that this grill is not a copy of the audi in the least.
Ron @ Dec 19th 2006 3:59PM
I'm not sure how that's 'bold' styling...
Not really impressed... not by the teaser at least. Hope the rest of it makes up for the lack of spark on the front.
Maybe I'm just not seeing enough?
