Autoblog Night Watch: The trials of supercar ownership, By Jeremy Clarkson
Clarkson's never-ending Ford GT saga has been well documented since his initial purchase in 2004. A few articles in his Times UK column, coupled with occasional quips from his co-hosts on Top Gear have made his plight public record. Now, a video-savvy fanboy has put together all the clips from TG to give the definitive account of Jezza's story. Naturally, it's comical in it's own sad, sad way.

By no means would I ever say that the Ford GT is a "reliable" car, but to be honest - I think all of Mr. Clarkson's problems have largely been due to the aftermarket equipment (alarms, immobilizers) that was installed when it was sent to England. I think that the car, mechanically, has been largely sound. Furthermore, Karl Brauer's GT over at Edmunds.com seems to be pretty reliable.

Found On Road Dead never sounded so apropos. Is it no wonder why Ford is bleeding billions. It can't even get it's super car right. And remember that the original Ford was a NAZI.

Love Top Gear and the hosts, even though Jeremy Clarkson can be a bit harsh on American cars it still spices up the show and in my opinion its the best car show ever.

Actually, Clarkson has already ordered a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. I'm guessing its replacing the Ford GT, but I'm not sure...

actually if you listen to clarkson, the car is fine, its the electrical stuff that he had installed in England: electrical system, sat-linked antitheft, and battery charger.

So the conclusion is that the car was ruined by Brits.

Clarkson's stature and public reach guarantee Ford made every effort to provide a top quality product and resolve his issues, and failed miserably. Imagine what the peasants lacking the means and clout suffer through with Ford 500s and Windstars.

I'm suprised he didn't get a DB9 after the train and car race to Monte Carlo! He was quite orgasmic about it while driving at 190mph.

Jezzo picks on North American made Fords...he's always on about the local Fords, esp. the hi kit Focus.
Love to see English Electronics be his boogieman.

English automotive electronics gone bad. Alert the media. Next up, the sky is blue, and water is wet.
I was going to say that this must be payback for all the Prince of Darkness jokes, but why bother.

a car like that in his hands is a waste of a good car anyway. glad to see he got rid of it.

So it was the British installed electronics. Why does that make the car in general, and Ford in general bad?
It doesn't...get a grip.
