VIDEO: More sights & sounds of Group B
Put together by the same person who assembled the clip we brought you yesterday, here's another round of hot, slippery, and sublime Group B action. The more you watch, the more you appreciate the skill of these drivers. Not only did they have to contend with their supremely powerful cars and the tricky rally courses they hurtled through, but they had to do it all in the midst of a fan base that seemingly had a collective death wish, stepping out of the cars' paths at the last possible second.

Terrific stuff. The cars seem significantly more powerful than those in today's WRC. HOw many hp were they packing?

It's something like (in their last evolution):
-a littre over 400 for the peugeot 205 turbo 16, lancia delta S4 and austin metro 6R4
-about 350 for the renault R5 turbo
-about 500 for the audi quattro
Not only were they more powerful than current rally cars
but they were also lighter, except maybe the audi.

You can keep feedin me these clips all day long! I remember getting up at 3a.m. to watch Juha Kankkunen and Markku Alen do battle on ESPN. GROUP B supercars had OVER 600 h.p. and were banned.

and don't forget the awesome Ford RS200, which depending on specs was anything from 450HP upto 800HP.
I remember watching these and the 6R4 on night stages on the Lombard RAC Rally with flames belching out the exhausts. Superb stuff.
Also remember our family dentist at the time bought a road going RS200.

Now that's real hairy-chested driving! I remember once being at a rallycross event with a number of 6R4's. You could tell when they hit the gas because they just about jumped in the air.

Good to hear that more than a few of us miss the old Speed Channel.Oh so tired of Unique Whips reruns,Nopi,and don't even mention Pinks.Oh to see a rally again,or the BTTC,German Touring cars,Aussie supercars.If it wasn't for F1,and MotoGP,what would be the point of this channel now.Don't even mention endless Barrett Jackson auctions.
