VIDEO: Jay-Z taps Maybach Exelero for new video
We have to say that Jay-Z is officially one of our favorite recording artists. Not so much for his awesome music, but for the cars he uses in his vids. Just a few weeks ago we showed you the Monte Carlo-set video for "Show Me What You Got" with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Danica Patrick racing around in a Ferrari F430 Spider and Pagani Zonda Roadster respectively, and now he brings forth one of our favorite concept cars of recent years, the Maybach Exelero. It is featured in his new video for "Lost Ones." Such a badass car.
We've been very fortunate to see this car close up on several occasions starting with Pebble Beach in August and continuing up to last week, when The Governator stopped to admire it at the LA Auto Show. As enticing as it looks on the show floor, it looks even better rolling under street lights, if we do say so ourselves. Makes us think a limited run could sell pretty quickly if Maybach decided to greenlight it.
Thanks Iculookin2 for the tip!

One could only hope that Maybach would choose to build such a car at what ever the price tag might be. But from all of the sources I have heard from, this car was built for the purpose of testing tires.
I do love the multiple appearances it has made at public events such as a party in Canada, C&C in CA, and now a stop by in Jay-Z's video...

Maybach needs a hit even worse than Def Jam did when Jay-Z decided to make this new/rehashed album. RR does German caricatures of what a RR should look like, but at least RRs don't look like the perspective owner's employees' s-classes.
The only nitpick I have is that if this gets made they need to make the rocker panels the same color as the body, Maybach doesn't need to copy the silver rocker panels from recent Monte Carlos.

Only Jay-Z can do that! He's been rapping about Benzes and Maybachs for so long that Mercedes had no choice but to let him use the Exelero in the video. It's funny because everyone that I know who saw the video was like "What is Jay driving?"

The Exelero is owned by Fulda tiers company... not Mercedes or Maybach.. Fulda had in the 1930 a streamlined Maybach as a testvehicle for high speed tier testing... they ordered Maybach to creat a PR vehicle based on this historic fact..
To the RR ilk guys here... RR is owned by BMW... its all German no matter what super luxury brand you choose
Maybach = Mercedes
RR = BMW
Bentley = VW

Maybach corporate doesn't need to "green light" the Exelero for production because you can buy an Exelero of your own, albeit, it will cost you a cool $12 million. Rumor has it that a private party is commissioning one currently.
