Separated at Birth? Acura Advanced Sedan Concept & the Littoral Combat Ship

Acura's Advanced Sedan Concept is supposed to be a pie-in-the-sky imagining of what a future flagship automobile could look like. As Damon stated when he posted on the car from the LA Auto Show, Acura may have taken the whole "flagship" thing a bit too literally, as the concept incorporates some seriously nautical cues, such as its pointy nose and boattail rear.
In fact, gazing at the angular Acura made me think of an actual military vessel that's in development today. The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and the bizarro Acura look as if they could be very distant cousins. Maybe a couple times removed. Anyhow, you get the point: that design language works a whole lot better on a naval vessel than something you're supposed to park in your garage.

If an up-and-coming studio like Hyundai put out a design like this, I am quite sure people would laugh. This is a 'lazy' undergrad, design.

Please, Autoblog, please just let us put this concept behind us...

I have a hard time making sense of concept models and drawings, but if I had to come up with an interpretation of this beast, I'd say Acura was thinking about a kind of sedan version of the MDX; something a bit brutish, like a Chrysler 300. Even so, this particular concept is really ugly.

THIS IS ONE OF THE UGLIEST CONCEPTS EVER TO GRACE OUR SHORES. SUBSTANCE ABUSE tests should be administered to everyone responsible for this concept. The thinking behind this concept must have been in the future when the ice caps melt and the world is covered by water what would the discriminating driver/skipper like to drive

A boat tail isn't a new idea from Acura, they did it most recently on the CL. Fine looking car.

That hood does kinda look like a bow on an aluminum fishing boat but I like the ship better though.

I hope that those LCS can outmaneuver those Sunburn missiles. SS N 22

What are you talking about? This is the civilian version of the batmobile from the batman before the last one.
I think ugly. The designers must be influenced by the lineup of pathetically ugly Cadillacs.

From certain angles, it somewhat resembles Lockheed Martin's stealth ship, the Sea Shadow:

I guess it's just me, but this looks like an update to the 1996 Lincoln Sentinel concept. Same beltline and proportions. I think the Lincoln design holds up pretty well after a decade. Not sure this Acura would.

I was going to say it looks like an ice breaker, but that battleship sums it up pretty good.
