In this lighthearted ad, Audi shows us how its quattro-equipped A4 Avant thwarts a car-chasing canine in the snow. Mostly, I chose this because I wanted to look at snow, as it's like 65 degrees and raining here, even though the calendar on my PC swears it's December 1st.

I demand an explanation from AutoblogGreen...

The Germans make some great car ads, and this is no exception.

They chose the right animal, because dogs oversteer. If were a cat, it would've kept up because they're four-wheel-drive ;)

Ha! Try living somewhere where -30 degrees celsius, wind, and several feet of snow is normal winter weather. Then complain.

Dustin, if you get a husky like I did those features come factory standard. Just be aware of the paint, it sheds excessively.

      TrueDis, hippie? really?

well of course, dogs always oversteer! duh

      :D

["epp_b, the ad is from Norway... do not think any Germans were involved except the car ;) The license plates are clearly Norwegian. I guess you have to know something about European license plates to understand."]

I didn't say anything about where the ad was made, but about who made it. Furthermore, it's an advertisement for Audi, so I think it's reasonably safe to assume that it was made by Germans.

Hi Alex, as you can see we reported about this already 2 months ago. It's an Audi commercial from Norway which was also used in Japan and was very successful over there.

      Synergies, Robert.

      And Quattrofan: Yes. :)
TrueDis may be the only person on earth to ever call me, of all things, a hippie. Hilarious.

Yeah. Dogs oversteer. Audis understeer (front-biased torque distribution). They should have used a PIG!
When cornering, the torsen differential distributes more torque to the rear axle, until it breaks traction. Then the rear axle speeds up, the torsen locks, and then the torque distibution become front biased, within the TBR of the differential.

Since the car wasn't going that fast (high lateral acceleration) the inner rear tire did not break traction.
