ZAP promoting tree-planting program
ZAP, a distributor of small electric vehicles, is challenging the world to plant 1 million trees by 2010. For its part, ZAP will plant a tree in China for every XEBRA electric car it sells. The company is already funding 50,000 tree plantings over the next year. As a symbol of the effort, ZAP planted a friendship tree in China and a sister tree in San Francisco to open the auto show there last weekend. Actor Ed Asner was supposed to be on hand when ZAP made the announcement, but was unable to attend.
