VIDEO: R33 GT-R, 0-200 MPH in 24 seconds
The R33 Skyline GT-R has the potential of making ungodly amounts of power, especially when it's uncorked by one of the premier Japanese tuners. This particular submission, to what's turned into a Skyline tribute day, comes from Top Secret and their head engineer, Kazuhiko Nagata.
The Top Secret R33's RB26DETT has been tuned to create over 1,200 BHP, which dispatches the 1,320 in a mere 9.6 seconds and will continue on to 200 MPH in just under 24 seconds. It performs that feat above. Enjoy the insanity.

And you point is?
American tuners are turning out plenty of 1,000+ hp 'Vettes and Vipers, while Japanese tuners turn out their fair share of Hello Kitty cars. The street runs both ways.

Okay...What about John Shepard who's 1991 Eagle Talon just went a 7.7 sec at ~195? All glass, 2L probably upwards of 1600 HP. I just don't see why this is as big of a deal...

True as it may be about the high-tuned Dodges and Chevys, the tuner Skyline still made a feat.

Just like many other motors out there, the motor in the Skyline is an amazing piece of art that I would love to have. :)

2 liters, 7.7 seconds, and 1600hp? Does it have a passenger seat? How stock is the interior? Street legal?
Yeah, that's what I thought.

NICE! I wish they brought those over to the states sooner, but all we can do is wait for the next generation GTR.

It's because some people have already seen these videos... And because if you were a true Skyline aficionado, you would have already seen this video a long time ago.

Enjoy these tuned GTRs, caus their days are numbered. The new G350Z Skyline won't have half the potential of its predecessors.

13.....well duuh, of course some people have seen the video....and others haven't, you moron!!!!
Sorry that I'm not a Skyline aficionado and accordingly, didn't have the exclusive privilege to view this video a long time ago!

In response to #10, yes 2 liters and 7.7 seconds in the 1/4 mile. The interior of Shep's car is about as stock as can be with a 7-second legal roll cage. I don't know how much power he is currently laying down, but he's running the 1/4 two seconds faster than this 1200hp Skyline - you do the math.
Oh, and it is street legal. You can see the license plates on his web site http://www.shepracing.com The last time I talked to John, he said he wasn't driving on the streets anymore as the car is just too powerful. I did see him on the street a few times back when he was running low 9's though. There are videos under the News section if you don't believe the times.

#16, that Skylines 1/4 was on street tires, not slicks like the Talon. Other skylines have done 8.5 on street tires.
HKS has done 7.671 on slicks, so what is your point.
