VIDEO: GT-R - The next in line
We'll conclude today's tributes to the Skyline with a look at the next GT-R, which will shed the Skyline moniker entirely and stand on its own. No longer will we need to be jealous of our friends in Japan. This one's coming here, too.
Start pre-addressing your thank you notes to Carlos Goshn. We've got a feeling that this puppy's going to live up to expectations.

This car is going to be nice, I'm glad they are finally separating the GT-R from the Skyline, it's about time.

I'll take one in black.

It is interesting though that there will be two completely different cars, one bearing the Skyline name and one bearing the GT-R name, both with no relations other than the shared Nissan badge.

I disagree- I think it's going to be too heavy and too expensive.

depends of course on the price - if its at $40K (not) then yes, it will most likely exceed my expectations, but if its $80K my expectations are that it outperforms the Z06, which I trully doubt it can do....

All you America First nitwits are banned from buying one. You're stuck with your oil dripping Camaros and Ford Tempos for life. LOL

It should not be priced more than the upcoming M3 or it just will not sell..

#7 It will truly outperform the Z06 on the track, plus it won't have plastic switches and interior bits falling off after only a year!

Can people stop calling the next GT-R a Skyline now? No more of this "real" Skyline bull... GT-R and Skyline don't go together anymore. GET OVER IT.

I agree with ohmy, it depends on the price. The great thing about the original GT-R was the fact that it was an affordable supercar for everyone. If this thing costs 80k , and is marketed to the Porsche/Z06?m5 buyer, I think it's going to be somewhat of a sales disappointment.

The man in second 42 and 43 looks like Keanu Reeves.

Looks like a G350Z with a body kit. Yawn.
I hope the powertrain is interesting, but what made the old one interesting was its resistence to massive amounts of boost. And won't this one be an NA V8? Blah.
And topping a Z06 on a track? Not bloody likely.

Compare corvettes and skyline gt-r's of the same era and the skyline has always beat it out. There is no question that this new GT-R will outperform the Z06. If you wanna bring in the new stingray/blue devil, then wait for the z-tune.
Just watch this.

The Z51 comes in last.

It's too bad Nissan isn't in any "primetime" racing series to really give it the across the board respect it needs. Believe it or not, there are still plenty of people in the US who have no clue what a GT-R or Skyline is.
Somebody should put together a Sebring/LeMans/ALMS effort and kick some Corvette or Porsche ass. What a statement that would be!!!

Well since the Skyline line has so much to live up to, I am pretty sure it will be a showroom disappointment. Now, does that mean you will not be bombarded with it every time you watch a movie, pick up a magazine or listen to some Tuner Boyz talk smack for hours on end - no you will be beaten over the head with the word Skyline and image of the car.
That is OK with me because on a bad day a crate motor from Chevy will run 9's all day long. (Last brag on AutoBlog.com) Let's see how the company who's last batch of cars burst into flames on a regular basis and is pretty close to last in quality overall allows a Frenchman to massacre the only piece of pride Nissan has left.

#13 that clip is inconclusive evidance and does not support your argument. A C5 with Z51 package is not the same car as a C6 Z06.

@felonious monk: R34 is an old car. It's a fair comparison with the old corvette. If you want to compare with the new C6 Z06 then wait for the new skyline to come out. I have no doubt that the new skyline will beat a Z06 round the track just like how old skyline beat old corvette.
Also the current Z-tune is on par or a tiny bit faster than the current Z06. So the next Z-tune is going to kick some ass!
