VIDEO: Team Panther slides. We catch their drift.
Even if you hate drifting, you 've got to admit that when the slides are executed with flair, it's pretty entertaining to watch. That's how we felt when we first saw the the video above. In it, Team Panther's 600+ horsepower Ford Police Interceptor puts on a great little show during last year's One Lap of America competition. The announcer's a bit intrusive, and we wish we could hear more of the sounds coming from the car, but it's really fun to watch when the white cop car gets into a groove, lights ablaze.

I have to agree with you on the announcer bit. It seemed to me like it was some sort of auto display (all the skid marks on the track), so him saying "Oh wow, look at that control!" is kind of a waste of air. Kinda makes ya wish the driver HAD hit the speaker wires...

oh...my...god! This is pointless to the nth degree.
This is why Japanes and American drivers sucks in F1, cause no one knows how to drive properly.

Are you saying that drifting is pointless? Because then you might as well complain that racing is pointless. You end up back where you started, right? So it's better to just not drive in circles, right?
The point of racing is to have fun and entertain. Same with drifting. Now I'm no rice-boy; in fact, I very much prefer large sedans and muscle cars. But I understand why drifting is popular, and I can't understand why people rag on it just because it's not what they expect.
Besides which, a cop car drifting on a skidpad has absolutely nothing to do with American or Japanese F1 drivers.

Those Crown Vic dudes were awesome.
Wish the rednecks who own our great One Lap video would actually have the cojones to release it.

Rocket Punch, it's actually because young European drivers have a bazillion different series they can race in to gain experience and then by the time they enter F1 they've probably already had years and years of driving on half the the circuits on the calendar.
You don't actually think that all the Japanese drivers that get into F1 know something about drifting though do you? Ever heard of Japanese Formula 3 and Formula Nippon?

That's what Ford should build: Crown Vics with 500 hp+. Those would sell. I know I would buy one.
