SEMA: Turbonetics TurboTach gauge and data recorder

Using an old-school, analog gauge to display your turbo speed, the Turbonetics guys have come up with a slick new piece of hardware that should have a pretty wide appeal. The TurboTach shows actual turbo speed on the dial, but also records data while you drive so you can diagnose and tune as needed. By comparing the data to the appropriate compressor map, you can spot trouble areas, identify surging and choke, sweet spots and shift points, or just if it's time to replace the turbine. The device will take the guesswork out of the tuning process. A dash mounted or dyno unit kit will be available from Turbonetics soon, including the gauge, the speed pick-up and the mounting kit. More pics after the jump.

Very cool, but I want to know how much it is going to cost. It seems like this could be an expensive gauge, and I would have to do a lot of work to install it.

This is freakin AWESOME! FINALLY a way to check out what is REALLY going on, especially for us rear-mounted turbo guys! Great way to see if you're tappin that little turbo out, or lugging the big one!

Nice that this has become an off-the-shelf piece. It will be helpful to the majority of people who don't know much of anything about tuning turbos, but are doing it anyway...
(People who do know what they're doing, have been building their own turbo RPM gauges for years. LOTS of years.)
But, it WILL look cool on your dash will be somewhat useful to the driver who really understands how their car works.
