The second vehicle Ford showed off yesterday was the F-150 FX2 Sport Extreme truck. Again, the theme is that anybody with a big enough wallet could build this truck using accessories and parts from Ford's performance and accessories catalogue. The truck's new name is justified thanks to a Ford Racing screw-type supercharger, ceramic-coated headers and Ford Racing side exhausts that helps the 5.4-liter V8 churn out 450 horsepower. Aww, brings back memories of SVT Lightnings liquefying their rear rubber at will. The FX2 Sport Extreme is also dressed up with more Ford appearance accessories like a dark billet grille, headlamp treatments, a fiberglass tonneau cover and what are described as "unique" wheels that look an awful lot like GT500 rims. Inside are technological treats like headrest-mounted screens and a line-in on top of the dash. Again, check out the Read link for a full gallery of pics provided by the Jalopalites.

I am very excited to see what this truck is all about but I am also disappointed I was not lucky enough to be in attendance of some old fashioned tire smokin' at the office no less... I thought this normally happened around the corner a few blocks down.

Gas is below $2.00 per gal.
You guys don't get it. All the cars you list here are not options on 65% of the shoppers list. These are entry level cars mostly for college kids and young families. Don't believe that? check to see how many Hemi engined carstrucks DCX have sold in the last couple of years. I guess BMW doesn't get it either, with the M5M6 V10 cars. There are buyers for both products. There is nothing cool about any of the cars you listed. If you ever see me in a Smart, I was kidnapped.
Mind you, I can afford a better car than any of the shit cans on your list. Even if fuel went to $5.00 per gal. I still wouldn't buy any of those. I'll drive my beat-up old 4 cyl Mazda to the train station like I always do, and drive my cool-assed, sweet as hell American V8 muscle in the evenings and weekends.
90% of my driving is for pleasure, A nice drive for me is NYC to Miami or LA. Think I'd want to do that in a f--king Prius? Ever heard on the Tail of the Dragon? Not for the meek.
"The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, with 318 curves in 11 miles, is America ’s number one motorcycle and sports car road."

This is driving folks. I need to find a site for driving enthusiasts.

"Gas is below $2.00 per gal."
Apparently where you live, which is likely South Carolina or Ohio or one of the various states without Vehicle Inspection/excise taxes on gas. It's right around 2.10-2.20 where I am right now. The national average is 2.25, and that is an artificially low price, thanks to our good buddies at OPEC. They're just waving the bait in our faces, hoping we don't succumb to the temptation of ethanol.
"Ever heard on the Tail of the Dragon? Not for the meek."
Thanks for the elitist tone, I have heard of it. However the traffic on that road has become insane in the past few years. If it gets any worse, i.e if you tell the entire universe about it, it's likely to be backed up bumper to bumper with these "boring" cars that you detest so, only they'll be "riced out".
"There is nothing cool about any of the cars you listed."
To you, perhaps. This is called an opinion, which is different from a fact. Everybody has their preferences, and I'm glad because a homogenous society sounds pretty boring to me. I'm down with American muscle when it's tastefully done. The same with foreign performance. I respect your OPINION, but don't come in here insulting other people for theirs, otherwise you're fully encouraged to find a "site for driving enthusiasts."

UGLY
it looks fine in it's original dressing adn has more than enough power to do what it's supossed to do so you not bring in the Euro focus and stop spending money on a retarded pick-up truck made for rednecks and trailer park dudes

You freakin hipocrit, you just bashed a man for posting HIS opinion! Maybe your just mad cus' he is 100% RIGHT! da...
"Fabulous truck!" Anybody that thinks that that heavy truck cant take a corner has never had the pleasure of pushing a lightning through an "S" curve at 130mhp! Straight lines are a thing of the past...unless you buy a truck from that foreign company, Daimler-Chrystler!
This truck HAS a place in the market and should (does)scare the hell out of you beep beep lovers!

Oh, really? Because if you care to read back what I said, I specifically mentioned that I respected his OPINION. What I didn't appreciate was him basically telling everybody else (to paraphrase) "your car isn't cool, this one is, because I said so." Don't believe me?
"There is nothing cool about any of the cars you listed."
You can call me a hypocrite all you want, but I can think you're ignorant for doing it.
jc @ Nov 4th 2006 3:26PM
The only reason why you guys panties are all in a bunch is because its yet another truck that will smoke the little trash can piped hondas and corollas

The H-D faithful love this ride...more power to 'em.
geo.stewart @ May 23rd 2007 4:27PM
well, I saw one message regarding the truck. the rest were digressions into whether a fullsize truck or a compact corolla were the better vehicle.
I'm not sure anyone has the opinion that the Corolla is "cool." the matrix XRS with 180hp hit on cool but even the Corolla S cant catch cool with only 120hp. I am NOT knocking the Corolla as it, like all vehicles, serves a specific or small range of functions. A base F150 wont make the list of cool but some of the pepped up ones will.
