The Jalopanese folk have just posted pics and info of last of three vehicle Ford previewed for the media today, the 3dCarbon Fusion. Though it's basically just a six-piece body kit for the Fusion, the look is sharp and, like the F-150 FX2 Sport Extreme reminded us of the SVT Lightning, the 3DCarbon Fusion has us pulling out old photos of the SVT Contour and sighing repeatedly. Many of you will no doubt appreciate 3dCarbon leaving off the silly graphics, stripes and paint on this vehicle and letting us see it in a more natural state of execution. The body kit includes a front air dam with a two extra chrome bars (bringing the total of chrome bars on the Fusion's face up to five), side skirts, a rear lower skirt, an upper deck spoiler and a rear deck spoiler, all manufactured in urethane instead of fiberglass. Plus, this particular Fusion has all-wheel drive and 3dCarbon added Brembo brake calipers and drilled rotors for some visual panache. All told, Ford would be hard pressed to make a factory-backed sport edition of the Fusion look better than this kit. 3dCarbon is bringing tuned versions of the Edge, Lincoln MKZ and MKX to the SEMA show, as well. Follow the Read link for pics of the 3dCarbon Fusion from more angles.

So what's really the news. Another body kit? For a car that has had relatively no impact aside from replacing the Taurus.

I think that it looks better than stock, although if you could figuratively take away about 10-15% of the 'boy racer' image out of that......that would be great......and at least put a blower on the thing.

So, what's so great about giving the Fusion (should have been called the all-new Taurus which is a better name) some plastic crap that'll be ripped off when the car bottoms over large bumps?

This kind of slapped-on junk does nothing but make a family car look like some teenager tarted it up so a chick or two in high school might notice it.

If you want a sharper Fusion, just buy the Mazda 6 on which the Fusion is based.

Is any of the kit actually carbon fiber?

"I thought all Fusions had the lower two bars."

      They do.

      That looks great!

The kit makes a big difference in the look, though their pics don't capture it. My brother bought this kit and we installed it a few weeks ago. It totally transforms the looks of the car.

I must add that the quality of the 3D kit is great. It fits on the vehicle with zero modification/trimming and fits well (no huge gaps or waves).

And yes, all Fusions have the 2 bars at the bottom.

Looks just how a body kit should; understated like it's not even a body kit at all. Now if Ford had a decent engine/manual tranny combo to go with it!
