VIDEO: Cruisin' Monte Carlo with Jay-Z, Dale jr. and Danica
It's not often that we post video footage from BET, but Jay-Z's latest music video for "Show Me What You Got" makes us wonder if we haven't been missing something.
The video puts some hip-hop flava' on the James Bond theme, set in Monaco with Jay-Z cruisin' the streets of Monte Carlo, ridin' the Mediterranean waves in a speed boat, layin' down some cards and cash at the casino and kickin' it at a seaside party.
The best part is right up front in the first minute, with Jay-Z riding shotgun in a Ferrari F430 Spider with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. at the wheel, racing Danica Patrick in a Pagani Zonda Roadster down Monaco's unrestricted countryside roads. Whether you like rap music or not, this video's not to be missed.

The best way to come back into the game! Jay-Z is clearly a power player when he has Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Danica Patrick making room in their schedules to make a music video. Not to mention its the best part of the video!

So I see Jay Z is overproducing the music on his tracks now... Jay Z is now a fusion of P. Diddy and Kanye.... so sad.

Monday Night Football featured clips from this video (maybe the entire thing?) a couple nights ago.
Danica looked as good as ever in it, especially behind the wheel of the zonda roadster, hah.

Jay-Z would have left skid marks in his undies if Patrick & Earnhardt were really mixing it up on the streets.

What wrong with music videos on BET? other that the fact that most of them are pointless and stupid, and are always based on a desecrated piece of hijacked music that I used to really like. The whole music scene of today sucks. Thank god for rock, classic rock, R&B jazz, southern rock, and dancehall reggae. Remember back when the "M: in MTV stood for music?
This video debuted @ halftime on Monday Night Football. Sweet rides, uninspired driving, that Danica chick sho' is nice to look at, the harbor scene and that hairpin turn always gives me a woodie.

I saw this on Monday Night Football a couple nights ago also, but the video was edited in with subtle Budweiser ads and after it was shown there was a "brought to you by Budweiser" disclaimer. I am in the music business and it's my educated guess that the budget for the video was heavily financed by Budweiser, which explains why Dale Earnhardt Jr. (and maybe Danica Patrick also, who's her sponsor next year?) were in the video. Great shots of Dale & Danica tooling around Monaco, though. Danica would probably smoke Dale in the twisty streets there, unless he went NASCAR on her and bumped her off the road.

You know, I haven't heard "Rump Shaker" in a long time, now I have to go download it :)
Cool video but I wish there had been more clear focus on the cars.

Good work, if you can get it!
I think this thread should be about best cars in a music video. My personal favorite was Jamiroquai's 'Cosmic Girl'. F40, Diablo, 355... yum.

Like the song, but that was just about the most product placement I've seen in a music video... besides the racers, I counted six brand names showed off.

Oh and Danica would SMOKE Dale in Monte Carlo given her superior road racing skills and experience!

Re: John Crowe
Maybe, but consider the possibilities. When they get more inner-city, your speed is going to be lower than F1 (also lower than NASCAR, but NASCAR speeds are lower than F1 anyway). Also, what if you had >2 racers? I bet that Dale would have the edge if there were, say, 4 racers? I've seen Dale take more turns with 4-cars wide than Danica, am I wrong? :)
I think it'd be a pretty close match. Dale has some good road course skills, too.

Dale just has to make sure he doesn't crash the car on the warm-up lap again...hahaha.

Newsflash: Jr. also drives sports cars, try 24 hours of LeMans and 12 hrs. Seboring. Why do people act as if oval track racers live in an oval world. If you bothered to check, you'd probably find out that Jr. has more racing in more diferent diciplines that li'l miss hottie.

12. Rap sucks.
Agreed, but not when you're in a dance club, with a hot half-drunk Latina, Sista, Asian, Indian, or Italian sweetie "Dropping It Like It's Hot"
God I love New York.

With all due respect to Ms. Patrick and her admirers, not only is she overrated as a driver, she's overrated as eye candy.

As if. It's all about the Benjamins. When they were contacted about appearing in this video, no doubt they said, "Show me how many I'll get."

A very sexy lady with a lead foot and great driving skills in a very sexy car. As for the music, nowhere as good as the Black Album.

Oh, and another thing: Danica's advantage in weight here is even greater (more than double) than it is in the IRL. :p
