Roll Reversal: HUMMER rolls OUT of a foreign country!
We've almost grown accustomed to seeing HUMMERS rolling into third-world countries on the news – Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq again...but now HUMMERS will be rolling out of South Africa.
The first H3s have begun rolling off the line at GM's Struandale plant in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, marking the debut of HUMMER production outside the US and a big step for the brand's global expansion (in true HUMMER style). We'll have a post updating HUMMER's progress on global expansion later in the day.
The South African-made H3s will be sold locally and exported to Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including the right-hand drive versions for those backwards markets. The Struandale plant in Port Elizabeth also makes the Opel Corsa.

"right-hand drive versions for those backward markets"
ahem. we drive on the left for good reasons... in Britain people rode their horses on the left so if they met a foe they would be well positioned to attack with a sword held by the right hand. similarly, the Samurai would pass each other on the right to avoid their katana (belted towards the left) knocking into each other. read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-hand_drive
so in summary, RHD cars are the cars of warriors... LHD cars are the cars of... i don't know... something not quite as good ;-)

Well We Americans have our own good reasons behind LHD. I can't clam this to be fact, (Of course...) but I think is the best personal theory why Americans have LHD.
Now, lets go back to the days when there where only stick shifts. As you know, It takes some amount of dextarity to manuver a stick shift correctly. So what hand do you dedicated on your shifting dutys? The better hand of course.
And you diden't need a servay to tell you over 80% of the population where right handed back in the day...

"backward markets", we the other countries are at least up to the metric modern times. eg Kilometers not miles; celcius not farenheit; metres not feet; newton metres not foot pounds; our notes in our currency are different colours and are plastic so as when they get wet they don't perish. So who is behind the times, by the way i am right handed and have no problem changing gears with my left.
