Make the name mean something. Drop the weight to 2,500 pounds and throw in the 260 horsepower engine, then it might sell for $30,000.

VW is having a harder time selling the Golf and I have to wonder if it's due to the weight, cost and the reliability issues. #19: Scirocco was more of a competitor to the 914, and had it beat by a mile with better value. With a definite VW look and Golf layout, it can't be confused for any Porsche. Scirocco came out in '74, 928 in '77.

A 2L turbo isn't hard to build. Tuner solutions turn up almost immediately and may already be available at launch if it's GTI-ish enough.
