Hopefully it will stay pretty close to this concept and actually have pretty well rounded performance. The VW was a hoot, especially with the DSG. Unfortunately, it will be heavy and expensive (just like the GTI). I loved the old VW GTI's, they were peppy, handled and got good gas mileage. The new versions though are way too heavy... 3300+ pounds, that's almost as much as the last generation Z28 Camaro which was a porker itself.<br><br>Make the name mean something. Drop the weight to 2,500 pounds and throw in the 260 horsepower engine, then it might sell for $30,000.<br><br>VW is having a harder time selling the Golf and I have to wonder if it's due to the weight, cost and the reliability issues. The STi Ltd is already in the $34k range.  How many options will that buy on a car whose base price will be in the mid to high twenties?<br><br>#19: Scirocco was more of a competitor to the 914, and had it beat by a mile with better value.  With a definite VW look and Golf layout, it can't be confused for any Porsche.  Scirocco came out in '74, 928 in '77.<br><br>A 2L turbo isn't hard to build.  Tuner solutions turn up almost immediately and may already be available at launch if it's GTI-ish enough.<br><br>But it's really about that interior.
