Ford newest round of incentives focuses on trucks
Ahh, more incentives to announce. Ford Motor Company has introduced new perks for potential truck owners, mostly relating to financing. Buyers of 2006 and 2007 Ford F-series and Ranger trucks will enjoy some of the lowest rates out there for 60-month loans, including zero percent financing for the 2006 F-series models and 2.9 percent on 2007 Super Duty and Ranger models. Alternatively, buyers can opt for a $2,000 cash rebate.
As one would expect, Ford isn't laying out that much cash on the hood for no good reason -- its inventories are so bloated, particularly with trucks, that the company has already decided to cut fourth quarter production with further cuts likely on the way. The incentives are also probable indicators that the company's September sales, which we'll get wind of later today, weren't so hot.

It's still fun to bash Ford though!
Fewer recalls than Toyota? Must be a conspiracy!

Actually, try $2,000 AND 0% for 60 months on remaining 2006 trucks. Or you can take a full $6,500 on supercabs if you finance with Ford standard rate for at least one month with no early payoff penalty...read refinance?

Well, it's better than Dodge's strategy of keep building them until you run out of parking lots for storage.
The '07 Super Duty was added because the new '08 will be an early intro next year. So, time to get those '07's over the curb.

I'll get the latest incentives into my database by tomorrow morning.
In the near term, Ford looks better than Chrysler. If Chrysler didn't have the rest of DCX to prop it up, it would most likely be toast. All their new products look as if a minimum of thought went into them.

Not surprising. I accompanied a friend truck-shopping last weekend. Drove the F-150; it was just awful. By "just awful", I mean that we both agreed that the 12-year-old F-150 we drove there in was a much better vehicle on all accounts. Not the least bit encouraging on a brand new product.

Yea NZK, the F-150 is just awful. Just SO awful that people flock to them.
You probably test drove a base model five speed V-6 with vinyl seats and rubber flooring. While I like the F-150 (and so many other people do, too), I will admit the base models blow. And if you both agreed that a 12 year old F-150 is better than the current one, than something awful is wrong with your head...

Most people that cant afFORD certain things tend to put them down. Think back to 5th grade, you picked on the girl you had a crush on, simple, right? The Ford F-series has been the #1 selling truck for 28 plus years, by now you would think someone would challange them. Ford sold more trucks during Labor day weekend than a maker sold all year. NUmbers dont lie, either does quality....
