Renault Twingo concept: loaded with tech, in time for Paris
Renault has released images of its new Twingo concept car just in advance of the Paris Motor Show. Previewing the upcoming replacement for the tiny Panda-class supermini, this concept is laden with a lot of features, many of which are likely not to make it to production, and some that might. Styling follows the familiar path of the new Clio.
The sprightly little three-door hatch is powered by a 1.2-liter turbo four producing 100 hp. It features frameless door windows and a panoramic glass roof which melds into the windshield. Inside are four bucket seats (which, considering you couldn't squeeze a fifth in there even if it had a bench, could make it to production). In the center console you'll find docks for electronic devices and an auxiliary USB port. The instruments are center-mounted as well. The car also packs a TV and internet-enabled car PC.

What a nifty little ride! Undoubtedly destined to swell the ranks of trick vehicles that we undeserving North American consumers cannot purchase...

I understand play and stop, but why is the clutch pedal "record?"

They had to put something in the clutch pedal :p
More seriously: what a nice car!!!
...but it doesn't look at all like a Twingo sucessor... it's not a Twingo. They should call it something else.

If the original Twingo is anything to go by, this concept will probably share it's basic shape with the production model....but not much else. Such a small car (smaller than a Mini, and certainly with a smaller/less pwerful engine), wouldn't really need such big wheels/tires/brakes. The instrument panel with it's "split" gauges, will probably survive to production, but not much else seen in this interior will pass-over to production, certainly not the fixed angle seats at all four "corners".

If you had driven Renaults you wouldn't be wanting them that much...

What an incredibly beautiful car! The old Twingo was a delightful little thing and if they make this one, I shall rent and drive it when I visit Europe. It is a real pity it won't come to the US - I would rather have one of these than a Smart.

It has lost lost ite place in the unique pattern set by the 4cv through to the 4,the 5, and the recent Twingo. Overdesigned alongside the pattern of its several 'twins',
Toyota,Citroen, and Peugot, will there at least be a logical model in the range?
