GM pricing of Silverado and Sierra oddly familiar
General Motors didn't look too far to find its pricing for the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks - they're exactly the same as last year, for the most part. The Silverado and Sierra start at $23,605 for the 4.8L V8, RWD, extended cab, base model, including shipping. The crew cab option bumps the price up to $27,000, also the same as last year's pricing.
Other models are apparently within $300 of last year's pricing, and GM has even reduced the pricing of some of them. The four-wheel drive version of the extended cab model starts at $29,960 for the Chevy and $30,500 for the GMC, the 4WD crew cab'd model starts at $32,515 for the Chevy and $33,055 for the GMC. All models come standard with OnStar, a tire pressure monitoring system, and GM's 5-year/100,000 mile warranty. The trucks start coming down the production lines next week.

The more I look at the sides of that box, I think there should be a moulding there. That sheetmetal is going to get banged up pretty quick, and then look like crap.
There should be a song "Where did all the mouldings go?" as designers keep leaving them off new vehicles. I suspect a conspiracy with the dent removal guys. Definitely some payola going on.

I buy trucks, I drive trucks, this is a beautiful truck. I won't buy one this year but next year watch out Black Sports-side, here I come.

Mancuso, I hope it sells well, just below the F-150. I'm curious how the all new '08 F-150 will look. Hard to improve on the current model.

How quickly everyone forgets that GM had moulding, then everyone complained about how much molding they had.

The trucks are too expensive. 24K for an entry-level truck? Watch out, Chinese vehicles are going to cause an automotive meltdown in north america.

Stoneman - $24k for an entry level FULL SIZE truck. If you want something less, go for the Chevrolet Colorado.
This is great pricing and does well to keep it in line with GM's value pricing. Boasting the best fuel economy, the best powertrain warranty and seemingly best pricing for "bang for the buck" the Japenese are going to have a hard time besting this.

I wouldnt buy a Chinese car if someone paid me! There quality sucks. Everything that I have seen come out of China is poor quality and cheap workmanship. The Chinese have a long way to go before the can run with the big boys. Look how many times its taken Toyota to come out with a truck that can compair with the 1/2 tons and just a couple of days ago I read that both Nissan and Toyota are delaying there heavy duty trucks for a couple of years because there current trucks cant hack it.

That was $24 k for an entry EXTENDED cab with a V8. Not really a starting point, as I am sure there will be regular cab and V-6 models too that are less money.

I'm not in the market for a truck, but I like the looks of this one. 24k for a fullsize pickup is not that bad. Think about it, brand new model, same price. Better warranty. Nicer interior. Not bad.

Take notes Lauren!!
"wouldn't" (has an apostrophe)
"can't" (also has an apostrophe)
"Their" (as in "belonging to them"; "TheIR quality sucks.")
"It's" (as in "it has"; "Look how many tries IT'S taken Toyota...")
"ComPARE" (not "comPAIR"! That may not even be a French word).
"TheIR" (as in "TheIR trucks"; "ThERE denotes a PLACE!!!)

I wonder if they are going to bring out a V-6(4.3 Liter) version later on. If they do, that may drop the price by a couple grand. I think you can get a V-6 F-150 for just under $19k. And I know the V-6 Silverados that are currently on sale are cheaper than the F-150s equipped with V-6s.
It will be interesting if they sell a V-6 version. It would be nice for small companies that need a truck...

Interesting ... it used to be that every year the price of vehicles went up. Now they go thru all the redesign and add features and the price stays the same.
The more I look @ that truck the less impressed I am. It still is a bar c/w a bow tie that has been forever. Ford and Dodge @ least make changes that are interesting. GM is ho hum ....!! Mind you one thing GM did was improve their interiors. Which sure would not take much but kudoos to them for that.

-I agree, while I certainly would not blame anyone for purchasing one of these it is the "Toyota Camry" of pickup trucks. And that front end Is the basic shape an elementary boy would have drawn, two squares and a rectangle make up the front end. Damnit! I used to draw something like when I was a kid! Okay, that was kind of harsh, but that front end still looks like 1988.
Does anyone think GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION had the *technology* or ability to build THIS EXACT truck 10 years ago?
It will sell for sure, but this might just be the first “all new” car I don’t notice the first time I see it.

I have a 1994 Silverado and am looking to replace it. Was going to get a new pickup but.....
Don't like paying $30+k for the privledge of getting less than 17 mpg.
Where are my side curtain airbags, and other goodies that all the other vehicles have ?
Going to move to a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Still hauls my trailer (8'x5') and I should get around 25 mpg. Heated seats, more airbags, automatic climate control, etc. here I come.
Love the trucks, but they (Chevy, GM, Ford and Dodge) don't get it. My expectations have raised and they have not bothered to keep up.
Lets see what they have in another 12 years.

The 5-year/100,000 mile warranty is a powertrain warranty, not bumper-to-bumper. GM PR conveniently forgets to mention this, no need for autoblog to do the same.
Bumper-to-bumper is 3 years/36,000 miles.

#15, if you "loved the trucks" you would hardly be considering an effeminate toy such as the Highlander! Also, you will NOT see 25 mpg towing with a hybrid. I swear, some of these poster really crack me up!

I am pleased to see the prices stay flat. They call it value pricing. The idea is to sell for MSRP rather than inching up the price and piling on the rebates. I hope it works.
Another thought, I finally figured out what seems so familiar about those bulging fenders on the Sierra. Think HHR. I guess that's pretty clever, trying to bring some common styling elements to the entire lineup. You could always identify a Mercedes or a BMW due to certain trademark styling features. Now Cadillac, Lexus, even Toyota and Honda, all have common styling elements. It's time for GM and Ford to tie them all together as well. There are some remote similarities between the Ford and Chevy cars, but for the most part they look more like their badge-engineered cousins (e.g., Impala and Lucerne) than the others of the same brand (e.g. 500 and Focus - what in the world makes both of those "look like a Ford", other than the blue oval badge?)
So returning to the original topic, I think it's clever to give the Sierra and HHR common fender bulges. I'm not sure anyone will mistake the HHR for an "SUV" - it's not even a "crossover", to me it is just a car. But I applaud them for bringing some uniform character to the lineup.

Price? At Chevy's website you can "build" a 2007 Silverado 1500 WT 1WT Regular Cab Standard Box 2WD (bottom feeder, in other words) for under $17,000.

I suspect that the $17,000 model is the carried over previous generation truck, perhaps now called "Silverado Classic."

Mr. Karesh nice to see you still posting! Hopefully you remember me from my C&G days.

That paragraph made me chuckle, just a little. The GMT900's will also boast a hybrid powertrain. One that is expected to come in costing less than the competitions (read: Toyota's) and also achieve a 12% fuel increase if memory serves correct? Could be higher.
