Video: Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG - OMG!
What happens when the horsepower-hungry boys at Mercedes' own tuning house AMG are "forced" to come up with a street-legal, quarter-million dollar, limited-production supercar to meet homologation requirements? The super-fast, 574-hp CLK DTM.
This video's in German, but like music, "fast" is an international language. (We did, however, add a new word to the Autoblog dictionary: "blitzschnell".)
The initial run of 100 über-coupes sold out years ago, and then so did the convertible version, so don't like it too much.

The three problems are :
1) it's too expensive...
2) even if you had the money, they are all sold out...
3) can only toy around with it on the Autobahn...
: )
I've seen one of these here in Holland, and it is really different from the regular CLK...has a complete different presence... not to mention its loud and fast as hell...

Dieser Wagen ist eine Ableitung des DTM-Sieger-Autos von 2003
"Es gibt gerade mal eine handvoll Autos die so viel Rennsport-Feeling vermitteln wie dieser CLK DTM, 582 PS, 800Nm, Schalensitze, 6 Punkt Gurte, Alcantara-Lenkrad, Kohlefaser, also in diesem Auto hat man immer das Gefühl man fährt jeden morgen aus der Boxengasse raus.
236.00 Euro ksotet diese Breitbau-Version des CLK. Ein Auto das man von Mercedes nicht erwartet. Von Understatement keine Spur. Dieser Wagen trägt seine Gene stolz zur Schau.
Nur 100 Stück gönnt Mercedes denn Rennsport-Fans. Mehr werden nicht hinter dem Alcantara-Lenkrad und in den Schalensitzen Platz nehmen.
Der ganze Innenraum ist mit Kohlefaser ausgekleidet. Das spart zwar Gewicht, hat aber auch seinen Preis.
Trotzdem muss auf Komfort nicht verzichtet werden. Navigation und Klimaanlage sind mit an Bord.
Der 5,5l V8 ist ein alter Bekannter. Hier bläst der Kompressor allerdings 582PS aus allen vier Endrohren.
Von 0 auf 100 braucht der CLK DTM AMG gerade mal 3,9 Sekunden, auf 200 sind es sogar unter 12. Durch die Schalensitze hat man direkten Kontakt zur Fahrbahn. Das Fahrwerk sagt einem deutlich wo es langgeht. Eine Hinterachsdifferentialsperre sorgt dafür dass die Traktion in den Kurven nicht abreißt. Das ESP regelt den Rest. Hier ist sich Mercedes seiner Philosophie treu geblieben - der elektronische Helfer lässt sich nicht komplett ausschalten.
Kaum ein Mercedes giert so nach Gas. Und kaum ein Mercedes lenkt so fantastisch ein. Die Automatik ist blitzschnell und schaltet nicht von selbst in den nächst höheren Gang. Eigentlich ist der CLK DTM AMG ist der besser, günstigere und mit 320km/h Spitze kaum langsamere SLR. Trotzdem ist nicht alles Perfekt.
Dieses hat 3 Probleme: Wenn man so'n Auto fahren möchte sollte man in einer Gegend wohnen wo es nicht regnet. Denn dieser Auto vor Kraft wirklich nicht laufen. Da kommt sofort das Heck wenn man das Gaspedal nur ein bisschen antippt.
Das 2. Problem ist man sollte eine Autobahn in der Nähe haben wo ziemlich wenig Verkehr ist, denn dieses Auto ist fast schon zu schnell für die Straße.
Und das 3. Problem ist, dass dieses Auto schon ausverkauft ist.

Already from its looks this car does not have much to do with the normal CLK AMG
This car is derrived from the DTM winner car 2003
This broad version of the CLK costs 236.000 Euro. It is a car you would not expect from Mercedes. No trace of understatement.
There will only be 100 of this car. More racing fanatics will not be sitting behind the Alcantara steering wheel in the seats.
The whole intereur is made of carbon fiber. It saves weight but costs a lot.
Nontheless, it will still be comfortable. It will have navigation and airconditioner.
We already know the 5.5l V8 engine. Yet in this car, the compressor gives us 582HP with its 4 exhaust pipes.
From 0-100 (which is 0-60 for you guys not using metric system) it only takes the CLK DTM AMG 3.9 seconds, going to 200 it is only 12 seconds. The bucked seats give direct contact to the road. The chassis tells one where one is going. The rear differential lock gives perfect traction that holds as you turn around. The ESP does the rest. In this case Mercedes kept to its philosopy, the electronic aids cannot fully be disabled.
There is hardly another Mercedes that strives for the gas pedal that much. And hardly another can be steered so easily. The automatic is very fast (blitz-fast, like Blitzkrieg) and does not change gears itself upwards. The CLK DTM AMG is somehow a better, cheaper, and with v-max 320 km/h hardly slower SLR. Yet not everything is perfect.
There are 3 problems: If you wanna drive such a car, you should live in a place where it does not rain. This car has too much power to go with. The back is moving quickly, even with the slightest hit on the gas pedal.
The second problem is that you should have an empty highway nearby, as this car is too fast for a road.
The 3rd problem ist that it is SOLD OUT.
