Two senior Ford executives quit
Ahead of Friday's announcement of Ford Motor Co.'s "Accelerated Way Forward" plan, two senior Ford Motor Co. execs have quit. Anne Stevens, COO of the Americas and Dave Szczupak, head of manufacturing for the Americas have, in the company's words, "elected to retire." Stevens has been with Ford for 16 years, and in 2005 was appointed executive VP and COO for the Americas, where she played a key role in crafting the Way Forward plan. Szczupak was named group VP, Manufacturing for the Americas in 2005, which made him responsible for all assembly, stamping and powertrain operations and engineering, including manufacturing plants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.Neither executive will be replaced in the short term - all manufacturing execs will now report directly to Mark Fields, president of the Americas group.

I'd quit too...
...if every good idea I had was thwarted by a UNION.

Did these 2 quit, or were they offered the opportunity to resign, before they were to be fired the next day?
Depending on the master plan, this is good.
Tighten the leash and reduce the bureaucracy.
Or, this might be removing those managers who propagated a lazy culture in Ford, and toughen up work policies.

These guys are set for life, thats why the union has fought for the common worker. I know the UAW has gone too far but things are pretty rosie at the top, so can you blame them?

Thank god they are leaving. They never washed their hands after using the bathroom and they always raided the office supply cabinets for stickie notes and pencils. Good riddance.

It seems like Mark Fields master plan to destory Ford is working quite well. He has been able to project an image of Ford saviour but harbours deep desire to destroy the company.
Barely moments after Alan Mullaly became CEO, this guys is touted as next CEO. Completely undermining Mullaly himself.
All the top talent is leaving because of this non-sense. And nobody is able to see the true picture.
Bill Ford has committed a massive blunder in putting Mark Fields in the driving seat.
The real problems like Jaguar, Land rover, mercury, lincoln are still very much there. They should have been shut down long time ago, but are persistent for god knows why.

I do not want to see the American Car Companies fail in our Country. Why don't they start addressing the real issue which is to produce a fuel efficient vehicle which is affordable and large enough for the american family to buy. "Build it and they will come"
One suggestion is to make the T bird (which everyone loves) a hybrid, but an affordable one. Also for the larger family make the Ford 500 (a beautiful design) a hybrid and affordable.
