Turn vibrate off: GM releases Camaro ringtone

When unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit back in January, the Chevy Camaro Concept managed to get hearts pumping. Not everybody loved it, but those who did could hear their pulse over the announcer. Until the car was started. That great American V-8 burble was the perfect compliment to the muscular looks of the car, and it drowned out just about every other sound in the hall.
Well, the car is still a couple of years away, but you too can live the dream by having that classic exhaust note available at your beck and call. Chevy has made available a Camaro ringtone. Just a few throttle blips, but enough to get your motor running every time your phone rings. Might be your Chevy dealer with an update on your deposit and order status.
Listen and download the Camaro ringtone here.

"...available at your beck and call..."
Another great unintentional pun :)
Maybe it was intentional... if so, kudos!

I prefer the lawnmower buzz from my neighbor's Civic.

I can't wait to see this car hit the streets. I've watched the videos on cartv.com showing it and love it - and that engine sound.....heaven!
If you're like me, check out these 2 videos of the Camaro:

Anyone know of any other good videos of the Camaro?

They could have at least used a decent recording without someone talking at the end...

Yay, so now we can drag race mustangs and camaros via our polyphonic ringtones:

They could have at least used a decent recording without someone talking at the end, AND, they could have let out the clutch, hooked up the tires and burned a little rubber. At least that's what the official FREE Mustang ringtone (I use it - it's great) has. Far superior.
Oh, yeah, and they could have set it up as a ringtone that could be delivered to a phone. Duh. The free ringtone is a great promotional device. I don't know why more companies haven't figured it out.

Are you fudging kidding me. The Sound from my old 72 Plymouth 440 mag pursuit patrol unit would upset this thing by just idleing.

Just heard it, sounded like a real car. I seen all the negatives, mustage sissys must be getting worried. I can honestly say, I have not heard such a beautiful sound since my 85 iroc that was undefeated against mustangs.

If you ask me, GM copped out by building the car on what seems to be the Cadillac XLR platform. It's amazing how they claim an "all new vehicle" when they're probably just trying to find a way to sell off the parts leftover from the Cadillac division, since the XLR flopped in sales. When GM Cancelled production of Camaros, I sold mine (which was my 5th Camaro) and bought an old Mustang 5.0 LX. GM is full of money-hungry copouts. As for the ringtone... Lacking. Nothing even remotely appealing about it. Had they melted a little tire, and recorded that, I might have cracked a grin.
