Dafydd Wigley, a senior statesman in Wales who has served both as a Member of Parliament at Westminster and a Welsh Assembly Member, got the keys to his Toyota Prius yesterday at Toyota's Deeside engine plant in North Wales. Wigley (that's him on the left) is standing as a candidate in the 2007 assembly election.

Wigley called global warming "the single most critical challenge facing humanity" and the Prius "the most environmentally friendly car on the market". His political skill seem to be still sharp, as he also called the "fact that Toyota is one of the few motor companies who have a manufacturing plant in North Wales ... an added bonus".
