VIDEO: The 1K Project II (coolest video ever)
Think your city has traffic congestion problems? It's probably not as bad as the rush hour portrayed in The 1K Project II. The 1K Project II was created by digital artist Blackshark using the custom track configurator in the game Trackmania and features no less than 1,000 sports cars, each identical and loosely based on the Mercedes SLK. The cars multiply like rabbits (VW Rabbits?) while swarming a polygonal burg and jumping, ramming and flipping over every square inch of town. It's worth a watch or ten.
Of course, if there's a second 1K Project, there had to have been a first, right? Yes indeed, you can find it here.

I think it would have been cooler had they tried to simulate multi-body interactions instead of just turning clipping off between cars. Also #3 I believe they said at the beginning that the song was Flower by Moby

I'm sure the opening to 'Gone In 60 Seconds- Now With Nicholas Cage' inspired these boys' choice in music considering thats the opening for the movie... Coolish... Not splendiforous, but coolish...

Sorry, but to be labeled "the coolest video ever", said video must contain, at minimum, one neckid woman behaving badly I believe. . .cool song though

Absolutley stupid. Waste of my time. And the music sucks too - people have too much time on their hands if they waste it creating crap like this.

Tom, did it take you the whole video to discover it was a waste of your time, or did you figure it out in the first few seconds and save those other valuable minutes to ponder the deep issues of our time?

First of all, the trajectory of the vehicles used in the video was off. If you were to take a Mercedes SLK (race tuned no less) and drive it through a road course and lose control, the physics of the vehicles would be entirely different. Cars are not indestructible, folks.
Second, this was created by an artist, not an automotive engineer. Until we see another video who understands the behavior of a performance vehicle pushed to the limit, videos like these belong on Joystiq, not Autoblog.
