VIDEO: Nothing very Civic minded about this big block CRX
Thanks to Jalopnik for sharing this clip. Because of it we were able to rekindle memories of our youths, when kustom kreations filled our matchbox collections and Ed "Big Daddy" Roth had Rat Finks driving around in massively overmotored rods with giant rodents behind the wheel. Not sure about the driver of this particular CRX, but this thing can probably steal the cheese in any compact tuner showdown. If anybody has any info about how fast this thing is, let us know.

I could totally smoke that thing with my Prelude!!

But seriously, I'm thinking someone should make a kit for that.
I would think about buying it (emphasis on THINK)

Wow, just wow.. If you really put your foot into it I'm sure that thing would flip over backwards... Awesome.

I got goosebumps just by listening to that exhaust note. I love that.

Haha, looks like that motor will twist that CRX's frame with one blip of the throttle.

Isn't that a front wheel drive car?, cause the tires may be on the wrong ends.

Might as well trick out a Pacer...at least it would be so surreal it make you pause for a second before you realized how goofy it was....

This is hardly news. I saw this thing at least 6 years ago.
I can't argue with the concept though, a giant powerplant in a super-light chassis...

You honestly think someone would go to the extent of throwing a monster V8 into a CRX without converting it to RWD neox? I don't see why it's so stupid either Marq. A muscle car engine in a car that weighs probably less than half of what the original muscle car did seems like a pretty good idea to me.

Very cartoonish.

More proof that just because you can doesn't mean you should.

lol!
had to double take on this. So when he stands on the throttle the car does a wheelie? lol

Hahaha, YES Carlton. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
I can tell you why it's stupid, the big rat motor is hanging out way in front of the front axles. I doubt it "flips over backwards" when that guy stomps on it, more likely it just lights up those big Hoosiers with anything more than a feather-touch of the throttle.
At least there's no big goofy wing, I'll give him that.

The video on Jalopnik has it running the quarter in 7 something, I think. (can't watch it at work right now)

yeah, I've seen pictures of this thing from over 6 years ago as well, although never seen video no could find more info. Someone must have finally thought of putting video up after all these years, wonder if the car even exists anymore?

Hearing the background voice in the second clip, and with a yellow licence plate, this would be a Dutch car! Gekke Hollanders

Well said Chris. Do you people even realize how much experience, knowledge, and effort it takes to build such a drag car? Obviously not. The chassis will not bend because who in their right mind will use the stock CRX chassis? The car will not flip over....just take a look at those massive hoosier slicks and the weight of that engine in the front and the low, front stance of the car.
This is a true exercise in a challenging drag-car build. The guys who have built this thing have probably forgotten more about racecar building than what most people will ever encounter anything automotive.
