VIDEO: Evolution Performance's 11-sec GT500
Evolution Performance of Aston, PA has put together a killer '07 Shelby GT500. Not content to simply make claims as to their Stang's formidable badassedness, the guys at Evolution brought it to the track, where it promptly ran the quarter in 11.81 sec at 120.9 mph.
The modifications made to the car were as follows:
- JLT Cold Air Intake System
- Custom Off-Road X-Pipe
- Custom Exhaust System
- 4.10 Gears
- Evolution Performance Custom Tune using SCT Advantage III Software
- Output: 500 rwhp, 503 lb-ft of torque
For now enjoy the video we do have, and be sure to check out Evolution Performance's site, where they've got a great photo gallery, the video you see above, and video of a dyno session showing that the car made a tasty 500 rwhp before the pully swap we mentioned above. Hot stuff, indeed.

Good for them and all, but 563hp (at the wheels) to run a high 11 doesn't impress me at all. What a bloated tank.

I was gonna say...I'd hope you'd be doing slightly better than an 11.8 at 560rwhp. His launch totally sucked though, so I am sure there is more in it. You can only make a boat anchor go so fast though.
Here's to hoping that the Boss Mustang becomes a reality!

What kind of tires were on the car for this run?

Apparently, this Mustang ran mid-10s at Englishtown last weekend. We're waiting for the video.

I have no idea what you guys drive or how much experience you have at the tracks, but I think 11.81 1/4 is pretty darn impressive

No kidding...the thing weights nearly two tons!

A note to Autoblog that this pass was done earlier, as in before they got 563 horsepower and 564 lb ft of torque out of the car that run was done with the car running 500hp 502lbs of trq.
You can see this on their other videos after the first dyno runs they show that they will run the setup august 19 when the did the run and shortly after the "first" Dynos, without the pulley, 4.10 gearing and no cats x-pipe.

Link to whre they show-off the times and list that the "upcoming mods" are the 2.6 pulley.

I can only guess that it's some sort of DOT legal drag radial, that thing bucks off the line, though didn't look like a particularly good launch.
Mid-10s seems about right for that HP, weight, and drag radials.
Don't get me wrong, that's very quick, but didn't MT or R&T run a ~11.5 @ 124 in a stock Z06 (think runflats) with less power? Amazing what less weight and aeros will do for you ;) Let's try and not make a 'yea but I can spend $$ on my $$$$$$ car and make it quicker than your $$$$$$$ car' debate, just saying.

Definetly a cool car with some bugs to work out. Maybe once the bugs are out, it will weigh less.

very slow time and trap speed for a car producing that much horsepower, I think the only way this car will impress is on the dyno machine putting out good numbers.

I agree a car this powerful should produce far better runs, but if you pay attention in the video I think his 60' time must have been horrible. It jumps then starts moving. I think it must have been driver error.

Looks like it got owned on the track, you can see the opponent way ahead.

I'm not sure where the bragging rights are? There's a Ford GT in Florida that made ~700whp on the stock blower I think. He's now on a twin GT35R turbo setup making over 1000whp on race gas. I've seen it in action at the drag strip and he gets no traction at all. On one run, he didn't even really get on it until about the 1/8th mile and still trapped over 140mph.

"Evolution says that this is the first 11-second '07 GT500, but stay tuned..."
A classic unintentional pun if ever there was one.

I'll admit that I don't know a lot about drag racing, but just looking through my road and track road test summary shows a lot of cars that cost a lot more, and have more power running similiar times.
mclaren F1 627 hp 11.6 1/4
ferrari enzo 650 hp 11.1 1/4
lamborghini murcielago 580 hp 12.0 1/4
mercedes slr mclaren 617 hp 11.5 1/4
porshe carrera gt 605 hp 11.3 1/4
So, maybe in the world of drag racers this isn't that fast of a car, but the mods don't make it sound like a drag car, just a fast mustang gt500.

Note from the author: I have reworded the body of the post to make it clear that the run shown was made with the stock pulleys and with a rear-wheel output of 500 horsepower. The original version attributed the time in the run to the car after its pulley swap, which was not accurate.
Thanks to dubbedinenglish, who pointed this out in his comment. Apologies as well to Evolution for incorrectly associating the video with modifications that were not made until later.

tO put this in perspective, SRTGurl famously whupped a dodge viper in her dodge neon srt4 with only $1500 in mods. She ran a 12.8. There are plenty of srt4s now in the in the 11's.
