Honda launches countdown on Red H minisite

We're not entirely sure what to make of this, but since Honda's red 'H' is normally reserved for vehicles that receive Type-R treatment, we're mildly excited. The launch of the site that will presumably occur midnight EST on Thursday may fall in conjunction with Honda's unveiling of the Civic Type-R in Paris, but the rev-happy sounds hint at something more suited for a racetrack.
Theories and thoughts on what Honda's up to are welcome in 'Comments.'

It's the Element Type-R. It features 2 VTEC stickers, 19' hub-caps and a 110HP engine with 95lb-ft of torque @11000rpm. Floor-mats are a no-cost, dealer installed option. New colors include - Racing Biege, Biege Metallic, Biege Mica and 'I Can't Believe It's Not Silver' Biege.

Maybe it's the successor to the S2000? Hasn't Honda claimed that they were stopping production of the S2000 every year now for a few years?

Only official press release from Honda can tell if it is a genuine Honda site. However from WHOIS lookup, the domain is owned by Honda UK, 470 London Road
Slough, Berkshire. So it must be an official site from Honda !!

The noises sound kind of F1, but I'm sure that's just for effect.
Still, go ahead and bash Honda's F1 history as dull or boring if you want to look like a buffoon.

Haven't any of you ever heard a motorcycle rev before?

Sid, the CTR owns your Mazda, any day of the week. So grow up with the Honda envy.

Its not an F1 car, the shifts are too slow, and I don't think its a motorcycle because motorcycles don't typically do burnouts when they take off, but its a high-revving engine of some sort.

At least there are a couple Mazdas without wrong-wheel drive.
OK, there's the S2000. (Or, as I affectionately call it, the Noisy Doorstop.)

the integra/rsx is dead, maybe it could be the tsx coupe the AB rumor mill projected.

I highly doubt this, but here's a thought.
New NSX?

New NSX?"
It's almost 100% not, as the Type R variant of cars usually get announced after the regular model gets announced. And with all the CTR pics leaked and no spy shots of NSX-successor mules around, it's safe to say it's the EDM CTR hatch.

I don't think it's a motorcycle or an F1, because the shifts are too slow. Plus, it definitely sounds bigger than 1.0L and less than 3.0L. I pretty sure that is a true manual transmission, so that also rules out an F1. Besides, they rev to about 16,000 rpm, and I'd bet on this being less 10,000. Other than those clues all bets are off, and it still gives me goosebumbs thinking of the possibilities.

By the sound it almost sounds like a LMP car. Definitely not something for the street. Thats assuming the sound goes with whatever is being announced.
