Autoblog Night Watch: Dueling Ferraris

Now that there's proof that we won't stuff a high-end piece of machinery into the weeds, we don't see why this video doesn't have two Autobloggers flogging a couple of Ferraris up some cow path in Tuscany.
No matter. We get to live vicariously through the camera lens as EVO's Richard Meaden turns the traction control to "off" on a 599GTB and then proceeds to chase down his cohort in a 550M.
Come on Ferrari. Make the leap, you know we're good for it.

I understand that the traction control was off, but those were still some very poor driving skills on display there. Quick, somebody sign this guy up for some performance driving courses before he puts this car into a ditch. Automotive journalists already have a bad reputation for crappy driving, but this is ridiculous.

love the "internet tough guy" posts. "dude, I could drive better than that in a 1977 chevette..."

I agree, the guy in the camera car is a pudwhacker. No skills whatsoever. My 75 year old mom could drive better than that.

Driving skills or lack thereof, I am really jealous of the chance to drive Ferraris on those roads. I, for one, enjoyed the video. The lights on the steering wheel are a great idea and really cool looking.

To the untrained eye (or ones without intelligent backing) car cam videos can appear slow.
The classic Rendezvous for example doesn't look very fast on a little tiny WMV player, or even at full screen. However, I am willing to bet that if any of the nay sayers rode shotgun, they would'ved peed in their pants in less than 2 minutes in.
Point is, when not seen first hand, you loose a lot of the sensations that give you the frame of reference your senses need to experience the speed.

If you must thrash a car on public roads, please stay in your own lane. This guy was letting the tail hang way out on some sharp right-handers - counting on the guy in front to have a better view of oncoming traffic...
