Transformers Update: Jazz will be played by a Pontiac Solstice
UPDATE 1: new pic added of Solstice Jazz

Looks like Autobot member Jazz will be joining Bumblebee in getting a new set of car clothes to wear in the upcoming Transformers film directed by Michael Bay. Several sources are confirming that Jazz, traditionally shown as a Martini Porsche 935 Turbo race car, will instead be played by a silver Pontiac Solstice. This adds to GM's current list of Autobots in its lineup, which includes the Camaro Concept as Bumblebee and a HUMMER as Ratchet.
In other Transformers news, here's how the first teaser trailer should have been done.

My money was on the Porsche Cayman, but I lose.

Oh man...I think this is a bigger blasphemy than Bumblebee. To go from a slant nose porsche to a solstice?!??!?! WTF? I'm not knocking the Solstice, but c'mon...he was originally a porsche race car fer crissakes.
BTW...Cayman S would've rocked as Jazz.

I think I see a pattern developing here. GM product placement at work...

Oh well, as if you expected the new transformers movie to be as good as the cartoon we all grew up watching. It would have been nice to keep the original vehicles, but given that movies today are less entertainment and more product placement adverts, its not surprising we'll see a glut of GM vehicles in the movie.
I still look forward to watching it though, no matter what cars they use.

That's crap. At least pick a frikkin Corvette. Stupid product placement. Bumblebee as a Camaro is still worse though. Should've at least made it an Aveo or Cobalt. Looks like it's going to be one giant GM advertorial.

What's Optimus Prime going to be again? A Toyota Camry?

This is ridiculous, this whole movie is turning into one big commercial. And then people will go and pay their own money to sit through it.
Ridiculous.

Jazz will always be a Porsche to me, but the Solstice GXP did beat a Boxster in the latest issue of Car and Driver. So it's not all bad. Pontiac seems to be holding their own with the Solstice.
Plus, from what I've heard, Jazz is not exactly a stock Solstice.

This is ridiculous. Damn rubbish American automaker shoving their wantobe wears into a classic and ruining it. Now its just going to be a 2+ hour subliminal message with lots of explosions.

You guys forget that the cartoon in itself was a big giant commercial to sell toys... Oh, the irony.

Um, did you ever watch the cartoon show? Come on. They took a bunch of late-70's Japanese robot toys from about four manufacturers and bolted them into a cheesy storyline.
I love that crap, but don't think for a minute that the TV show wasn't explicitly designed to sell toys.

Yes! I share everyone's indignation at the crass commercialization of the Transformers. Corporate America is spoiling the purity of the story with its ridiculous product placement!
The producers should have stayed true to the form of the original cartoon... and made the movie a thinly-disguised feature length advertisement for Hasbro toys.

That Solstice may have beat the Boxster around the track, but Car and Driver said they'd buy a used Boxer before buying the Solstice.

This movie sounds less and less appealing by the minute. How about replacing Soundwave with an Onstar system? Yes, GM, we ARE that easy to buy.
